I had a thought recently.

I've noticed that when a man is respectful, laid back, and not constantly pursuing women or talking about s*x, some people immediately begin questioning his s*xuality. That made me wonder: Why do we often associate masculinity with s*xual behavior?

Some boys grow up receiving the message that becoming a man is tied to how early they have s*x or how many women they can attract. If they don't show interest quickly enough, people assume something is wrong or begin questioning them.

I think that's a harmful message.

A young man's worth should not be measured by his s*xual activity. He should not feel pressured to have s*x before he's ready, and he certainly shouldn't be made to believe that s*x is what proves his manhood.

Character, responsibility, self-control, integrity, respect, and emotional maturity are far better measures of manhood than s*xual experience.

Maybe if we spent more time teaching boys how to build healthy relationships, communicate effectively, and respect themselves and others, we'd all be better off.

Just a thought.

As a society and a culture, we really have to stop equating manhood and masculinity to how many women a man can sleep with. Just because a man is not focused on chasing a** doesn't mean he lacks masculinity or that he is gay.

In the early stages of dating, it is crucial to be mindful of the information you share about your previous relationships. It is not advisable to be dishonest, but rather to be discerning about which details to reveal.

When you share certain details from a past relationship, it can inadvertently establish a precedent for what you will accept in the new relationship.
