We have a REAL THREAT HERE to not onlyour Drag Community, but the LBTQ+ community in general and I don't think people realize how serious this REALLY is!

🚫 Stand Against Ohio HB249: Protect Our Freedom of Expression

Ohio’s HB249 (the "Indecent Exposure Modernization Act") is back, and it’s a direct threat to the diversity and cultural fabric of our state. Under the guise of "protecting children," this bill aims to erase LGBTQ+ visibility and criminalize artistic expression.

Why HB249 is a Step Backward:

* Targeting Identity: The bill broadly redefines "adult cabaret" to include anyone performing with a gender identity different from their s*x assigned at birth. This isn't just about "obscenity"—it's a targeted attack on drag performers and trans/non-binary individuals simply for existing in public spaces.

* Vague and Dangerous Language: By using loosely defined terms, the bill leaves the door open for over-policing and discrimination. It shifts the power to the observer to decide what is "appropriate," effectively allowing the state to censor any performance that doesn't fit a narrow, traditional mold.

* A Threat to Arts & Culture: Drag is a historic and vibrant art form rooted in storytelling, humor, and community. HB249 would force these cultural celebrations into adult-only venues, stripping them from the festivals, pride events, and public spaces that make Ohio inclusive.

* Government Overreach: Existing laws already protect minors from truly obscene content. This bill is an unnecessary expansion of government power designed to marginalize a specific community and suppress diversity.
