The young man standing in front of her had interrupted three times already, trying to change his story about the unpaid loan he promised to return to his cousin.

Judge Judy looked directly at him and said,
“When you borrow money and give your word, that’s not a suggestion — that’s a responsibility.”

The man tried to speak again, but she stopped him immediately.

The roommate stood up and said,
