💜 Brain fog is real... and it doesn't just make me forget where I put my keys.

One of the hardest parts of living with chronic pain and fatigue is trying to answer a simple question at a doctor's appointment:

"So, how have you been feeling since I saw you last?"

Even when I go in prepared, my mind often goes blank. I can remember today. Maybe yesterday. But trying to describe what an "average" day has been like over the last month? Brain fog has usually stolen those details from me.

That's why I started using a Monthly Pain Tracker.

It's not about being perfect. There are days I forget to fill it out, and that's okay. But having a place to quickly jot down my pain level, fatigue, symptoms, and little victories helps me see patterns I would have otherwise forgotten. It also gives me something concrete to bring to my appointments instead of relying on my memory alone.

Sometimes the tracker reminds me that I've actually had more good days than I realized. Other times, it validates just how difficult the month has been when I start wondering if I'm "overreacting."

If brain fog has ever left you struggling to answer your doctor's questions, you're definitely not alone.

💜 I've created this tracker for anyone who might find it helpful. Feel free to save it, print it, and use it however works best for you.

Do you keep track of your symptoms, or do you rely on memory?

One of the biggest game changers for my sleep has been switching to a fleece fitted sheet. 💜

With my fibromyalgia, I can feel every wrinkle and bunch in regular sheets, and it seems like I'm constantly waking up to smooth them out. Fleece sheets stay soft, don't wrinkle the same way overnight, and give me a much more comfortable surface to sleep on.

It's a small change, but for me, it's made a noticeable difference in getting a better night's sleep.

When my hands, wrists, and joints are really acting up, this is one of the things I keep on hand. 💜 It doesn’t make the pain disappear, but it does help take the edge off enough that I can sometimes get through the day a little easier.

If you deal with arthritis, autoimmune pain, or sore joints, it might be worth adding to your medicine cabinet.

💜 A little reminder that surviving the day counts too.

Living with chronic pain and chronic fatigue means every day looks different. Some days I can accomplish a lot. Other days, getting out of bed, taking my medications, and drinking enough water are the biggest wins.

That’s why I created this Daily Self-Care Checklist.

It’s not meant to be another to-do list that leaves you feeling guilty. It’s a gentle reminder to take care of yourself in the ways your body needs today—not the ways you wish it could.

Some days you might check every box.
Some days you might check only one.

Both days are enough.

Healing isn’t measured by productivity. Rest isn’t laziness. Listening to your body is one of the hardest—and bravest—things you can do when you live with an invisible illness.

Save this checklist, screenshot it, print it, or share it with someone who needs the reminder today.

✨ Which item on the checklist is the hardest for you?

Mine is resting without feeling guilty. 💜

Some Days, Survival Is the Accomplishment

When I started my blog Clutter Through the Fog, I promised myself I was going to be honest.

That means celebrating the days I clear out three dresser drawers… and also talking about the days when absolutely nothing gets done.

Today was one of those days.

The humidity and rain rolled in, and my body let me know before I even looked out the window. From the soles of my feet to the roots of my hair, everything hurt. Every joint ached. Every muscle felt bruised. Even my skin seemed to hurt.

If you live with a chronic illness, you probably know exactly what I’m talking about.

The cleaning list stayed exactly where I left it.

Not because I didn’t want to work on it.
Not because I wasn’t motivated.
Because my body simply said, “Not today.”

One of the hardest parts about living with a chronic illness isn’t just the pain. It’s the unpredictability.

Yesterday I might have had enough energy to organize a dresser.

Today, walking across the room feels like enough.

That’s also why I’ve realized I could never be a traditional social media influencer. So much of social media is built around consistency—posting every day, sticking to a schedule, always showing up.

Chronic illness doesn’t work that way.

I can’t promise there will always be a new post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I can’t promise I’ll always have the energy to film videos, edit photos, or write blog posts.

What I can promise is honesty.

When I’m able, I’ll be here.

When I’m not, it’s because I’m taking care of the only body I have.

Maybe that’s the message someone else needs to hear today.

Rest isn’t quitting.

A day spent recovering isn’t a wasted day.

Sometimes surviving the storm outside—and the one happening inside your body—is enough.

The dresser will still be there tomorrow.

And when my body is ready, I’ll pick up where I left off.

One drawer.

One basket.

One good day at a time.

For those who have noticed I've been quiet lately, I wanted to check in.

The last several weeks have been filled with flares, exhaustion, and trying to figure out what my body needs. I recently started seeing a mental health professional, and together we decided it was time to address my sleep. After so many nights of pain and insomnia, I was prescribed something to help.

The good news? I'm finally sleeping.

The not-so-good news? Right now, it feels like sleeping is all I'm doing. Even when I'm awake, I feel like I'm moving through a fog of sleepiness. It's been an adjustment, and I'm trying to give myself grace while my body and mind adapt.

Healing isn't always obvious. Sometimes it looks productive, and sometimes it looks like resting far more than you'd like. I'm hopeful this is just one step in finding a healthier balance.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in, reached out, or simply stayed here while I've been quiet. I'll be back when I can, one day at a time. 💜
