After including readers' experiences about the Flood of 1955 in a feature article in our Summer 2025 issue, here is an alert for those wanting to share comments about two upcoming topics for the magazine – Howland-Hughes department store and Holy Land. Send along an email to [email protected] with comments about those city landmarks, whether it was shopping, working or even seeing Santa at the department store, or sharing photos and accounts from visits to Holy Land during its heyday decades ago. Thanks!

What better time to launch a publication dedicated to the history of Waterbury than during a landmark anniversary year! As the city celebrates its 350th birthday this coming weekend (with a downtown bash on September 27 and 28), the premiere issue of Waterbury History magazine will be available (online and at the big event). Published by Highbury Press and edited by Michael Griffin – who has written three books on Waterbury-related history. most recently one on the history of Hamilton Park – the new publication will be issued four times a year, highlighting the people, places and events that have gained fame in the city over the years.
