Port Day: Willemstad, Curaçao
Part Four of My Cruise Series

Curaçao was one of the ports I was most excited to explore, but we had just about six hours here, which was nowhere near enough time. This is definitely a port I want to visit again, and next time I would love to rent a car and really explore more of the island.

When you arrive in Curaçao, your first stop is the Rif Fort, a perfect blend of history and modern Caribbean charm. The entrance, a beautiful archway made of coral stone, brings you from the streets of Willemstad into a shaded, relaxed marketplace that sits on nearly two hundred years of military history. 🌴🏰

The Past
Built in 1829 under King William I, the Rif Fort was designed to protect Curaçao from pirates and enemy attacks. It was armed with fifty six cannons and constructed with coral stone walls five feet thick and four stories high. At the time, it was considered bombproof.
During World War Two, the fort was upgraded again with two 37 mm machine guns to help protect the Shell Oil Refinery.

The Present
Today the Rif Fort is one of the most unique sightseeing, shopping, and dining areas in Curaçao. As you walk through, the courtyard opens to colorful restaurants, bars, shops, palm trees, live entertainment, and a warm welcoming atmosphere.
Dining options include the Royal Dutch Cheesery, Steak and Ribs Grill with amazing sunset views, Douwe Egbert’s Coffee Bar, and Don’s Ice Cream Shop. Shopping includes boutique art galleries, jewelry stores, Delft Blue items, CurAloe products, and more.

Most people walk straight through the fort on the way to the Queen Emma Bridge, but the upper levels offer some of the best views of St. Anna Bay and the historic waterfront.

After exploring the Rif Fort, we walked toward one of Curaçao’s most iconic spots
the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge. 🌉💙
Crossing this floating bridge is an experience in itself. It gently sways with the movement of the water, and it opens up into a picture perfect view of pastel colored buildings lining the waterfront. The colors, the charm, and the architecture make this one of the most beautiful port cities you will ever explore.

Once you cross into the Punda district, the shopping area is filled with bright storefronts, small boutiques, cafés, and local shops. The Dutch influence mixed with Caribbean color gives the whole area this warm, cheerful, almost storybook feel. It is relaxing, charming, and so easy to fall in love with.

Even with only six hours, Curaçao left a lasting impression. The energy here is calm, colorful, and unforgettable. I cannot wait to return one day and explore even more of this stunning island. 🌴✨

Stay tuned
Next stop is the Dominican Republic.

Aruba day was everything!
We took a Can Am across the island, visited Mangel Halto, Baby Beach, Arashi, California Beach, and the California Lighthouse, and even found the red anchor memorial for lost seamen.
I lit candles at Alto Vista Chapel for my dad and said intentions for my family.
This island surprised me in the best ways and truly touched my heart 💙🌴

Port Day: Oranjestad, Aruba

Part Three of My Cruise Series

We arrived in Aruba and had to meet the excursion company at 10:00 am, so we got off the ship early and headed straight through the port area. Once we crossed the street, the tour company was right there waiting for us with our Can Am Side by Side. They went over a few safety notes, helped us download their app, and programmed in all of the must see beaches and landmarks. Once he showed us how the app worked, we were off. 😄🌴

I have heard so many wonderful things about Aruba, so I was beyond excited to explore the island. The weather was perfect and the views did not disappoint. Our first stop was Mangel Halto Beach, a beautiful and quiet spot with warm water and the kind of scenery that makes you want to stay all day.

After that, we headed toward Baby Beach, which was about a twenty five minute drive. While we were driving, I noticed something I did not expect. Aruba has a very dry, arid climate with desert like terrain, cacti, and drought resistant plants. It looks completely different from many other Caribbean islands, and it was fascinating to see.

Along the way we passed a striking red anchor on the side of the road. I looked it up and learned it is called the Anchor in Memory of All Seamen, a tribute to sailors who lost their lives at sea. On our way back from Baby Beach, we stopped to see it up close and it was a very moving sight.

Once we arrived at Baby Beach, we found another gorgeous spot to relax, swim, and take in the calm turquoise waters. This beach is a favorite for a reason. Soft sand, warm water, and peaceful surroundings. We could have stayed there all day. ☀️🌊

After Baby Beach, we decided to visit Alto Vista Chapel, a small and historic chapel perched on a hill overlooking Aruba’s rugged landscape. Built in 1750, it is one of the island’s oldest places of worship and a meaningful symbol of Aruba’s Catholic heritage. The chapel is quiet, spiritual, and surrounded by breathtaking views. I donated money, lit two candles in remembrance of my father, and said intentions for my family and friends. The area around the chapel, including the Peace Labyrinth, is incredibly peaceful and worth the stop.

From there we drove toward the Noord area to visit more beaches. Our next stop was Arashi Beach, a white sand beach known for calm waters, great snorkeling, palapa huts, a beach bar, lounge chair rentals, and showers. It is perfect for families and anyone who wants a laid back day in the sun.

Not far from Arashi, we took the Can Am onto the sand near California Beach. On the way in we saw a family of chickens, and of course, if you know me, you know I had to stop and say hi. 🐔💙

A short drive from there is the California Lighthouse, one of Aruba’s most iconic landmarks. This old stone lighthouse stands high above the coastline and offers panoramic views of the beaches and coral shoreline. It was named after the S.S. California, a ship that sank before the lighthouse was built in 1910. The views from this area are absolutely picture perfect.

On our way back to the port, we passed a section of the sea where you can partially see a shipwreck just beneath the surface. I did not realize Aruba is known for shipwreck diving and has many dive sites for all skill levels. The most famous is the S.S. Antilla, one of the largest shipwrecks in the Caribbean and a top dive and snorkel site for visitors. Seeing a shipwreck from shore was such a unique moment.

All in all, I had one of the best days in Aruba traveling across the island, exploring different areas, discovering new beaches, and learning so much about the island itself. Aruba truly exceeded every expectation. 💙🌴

Stay tuned for the next port in my cruise series
Curaçao is up next.

Sea days on Oasis of the Seas are my happy place
Finding a pool chair is a sport, the belly flop contest is elite entertainment, and the ice cream tastes better at sea
Relax or stay busy
Either way you win on a sea day 🌊

⭐ Sea Days on Oasis of the Seas

Part Two of My Cruise Series

Sea days are some of my favorite days onboard because they can be as peaceful, playful, value packed, fun, and relaxing as you want. But they also come with one very real challenge
Finding a pool lounger that is not already “claimed” at sunrise. 😅

Plenty of guests get up early and try to save seats, even though Royal Caribbean does not encourage this. If seats stay empty too long, staff can remove personal items so others can use them. My best advice if you want that perfect sunny spot without paying for a casita is simple:
Get up, enjoy breakfast, and head straight to the pool. Pick your chair, settle in, and start living your best sea day life. ☀️

Personally, I do not love being right at the pool. I prefer the deck just above it. It is less crowded, the music is still perfect, and I can see the belly flop contest from above which is always a highlight 🤣

Royal Caribbean gives you endless ways to stay busy. By checking the app daily, you can plan your perfect day. You will find rock climbing, a zipline across the top of the ship, water slides, dry slides, bingo, dance lessons, karaoke, towel animal classes, family games, the spa and more. There is always something happening. 🎉

The FlowRider is another popular spot on a sea day. It draws a full audience of brave riders and even braver spectators. I am not brave enough to try it myself, but watching is half the fun. My daughter has done the zipline on Allure of the Seas, Oasis’s sister ship, and although she was nervous she was so glad she did it. 💙

On one of our sea days we scheduled a specialty lunch at Izumi Hibachi. The menu is the same for lunch and dinner, but lunch was easier to book since dinner reservations filled up quickly and the lunch price was lower. The perfect win win.

Sea days also give you time to explore the ship and find those quieter little nooks and crannies to relax. One of my favorite spots was at the back of the ship where the rocking chairs overlook the wake. Sitting there watching the water trail behind the ship was calming, peaceful, and the perfect place for a short nap. 😌🌊

Another beautiful place onboard is Central Park. This open air neighborhood is filled with real trees, winding pathways, thousands of plants, and quiet places to sit. You can grab a drink at the bar, enjoy live music, or just soak in the feeling of a park at sea. On the newest ships, this area is even more lush with added ocean views and expanded dining and entertainment. 🌿🍷

And now for the sweetest part of any sea day
Ice cream. 🍦

One of the most popular spots on a sea day is Sprinkles, the soft serve station on the pool deck. It is included, it is self serve, and it is impossible to walk past without grabbing a swirl.

For something more indulgent, Sugar Beach on the Boardwalk is your place. This location is not included in the dining or beverage package, but it offers signature sundaes, scoops with toppings, and bulk candy a la carte. It feels like a candy shop dream in the middle of the ocean.

Then there is Johnny Rockets, home to classic diner style milkshakes and malts. Here is the best tip:
If you have the Refreshment Package, your milkshakes and malts are included. ✔️

While you are on the Boardwalk, take a ride on the carousel. It is complimentary and brings out the inner child in everyone. There are also boardwalk style games available for an extra charge using your SeaPass card. 🎠

One of the most moving experiences during our cruise was the Salute to Veterans ceremony held on the Royal Promenade on Deck 5. It honors active, retired, and veteran military members with speeches, military branch hymns, the national anthem, a moment of silence, and a very emotional rendition of Taps. It is a beautiful tribute and a powerful reminder of gratitude. 🇺🇸

Sea days are truly what you make them. Whether you choose adventure, relaxation, family fun, or a little bit of everything, you are creating your own perfect day at sea.

Stay tuned for the next part of my cruise series as we head into our first port
Beautiful Aruba. 🌴💙

What makes you happy?
Because for me it is a cruise balcony 🌊 a stateroom with a view 🛏️ and that fresh sea air hitting just right 😌
Also a room that magically cleans itself which is truly the dream ✨

If this gave you even a little FOMO 😅 it might be time to book a cruise 🚢

⭐ Embarkation Day and What to Expect

Follow along all week for my cruising adventure onboard Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas from November 15 through November 23, 2025. I will walk you through embarkation, the ship itself, muster drills, sea days, every port we visited, disembarkation, and everything in between. Whether you are brand new to cruising or a seasoned cruiser who loves the excitement of sail away, there is something here for everyone.

Always fly in at least one full day early. This gives you a buffer in case your flight is delayed or cancelled. Flying is unpredictable, and having that extra time gives you peace of mind knowing you will still make it to the ship. Because you will need a hotel the night before, make sure to include that in your trip budget.

I always recommend using a passport to cruise, even if it is a closed loop cruise sailing round trip from the United States. If something unexpected happens and you must leave the ship from another country, you will absolutely need a passport to get home.

When checking in on the cruise line app, you will select a port arrival time. Be sure to arrive on time. These staggered times keep the flow of boarding smooth and efficient. When you use a travel advisor like me, you receive first hand knowledge and step by step instructions on what to expect so embarkation day is effortless instead of overwhelming.

Embarkation Day is one of the most exciting days of any cruise vacation. For anyone new to cruising, or even experienced cruisers who love a good refresher, here is everything you can expect when boarding your Royal Caribbean cruise.

Once you arrive at the port, you will hand your luggage to the porters so it can be loaded onto the ship. Your bags typically arrive at your stateroom by dinner time, so keep anything important with you. Hearing the words “Welcome Aboard” is enough to put a huge smile on your face and signals the official start of your vacation. One of the best things about cruising is that it can be relaxing, adventurous, or a little of both, and you get to choose the experience you want.

Once onboard, you will already be on Deck 5 which is the Royal Promenade. This is where you can make reservations for shows and dining if you have not already done so in the app. It is also where you can purchase the drink package, dining packages, photo packages, and internet if needed, although prices are usually better when purchased ahead of time. After that, you can head to lunch in the dining room, the buffet, or another venue on the ship. We chose the Windjammer buffet because the options are endless and we could not decide what we wanted. Pack your bathing suit in your carry on bag so you can change and enjoy the pool, hot tubs, waterslides, the FlowRider, and more while waiting for your room to open if it is not ready yet. There are also opportunities for embarkation photos before you get on the ship and once you are onboard if you want to capture the moment.

On my Royal Caribbean sailing on Oasis of the Seas, our stateroom was ready at 1:30 and our Set Sail Passes were waiting at the door. You will use this card for everything on board, so do not leave your room without it.

After our room was ready and our bags were delivered, I unpacked and organized everything to keep our stateroom clutter free. When booking with me, I guide you on what to pack and tips and tricks to stay organized the entire week. Once we were settled, we headed to the sail away party and waved goodbye to Fort Lauderdale as we began our first sea day.

Stay tuned tomorrow to learn all about everything there is to do during your days at sea. Cruise series part two coming next.

🦃🍁 Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃

Happy annual day of pretending everything is calm while pure chaos unfolds.
Today I am extra thankful for my people
The family that keeps life interesting
The friends who make me laugh until I cannot breathe
The group chats that should absolutely never be exposed
And every single memory that turns into a legendary story every time we retell it.

And a huge thank you to my amazing clients
Thank you for trusting me with your vacations and your family memories
It means more to me than you know
Being part of your adventures is one of my favorite things in the world
and I am so grateful I get to do it with you.

May your relatives behave long enough for one normal photo
May the drama stay minimal
And may the laughter be loud enough to drown out the chaos.

Happy Thanksgiving to my favorite humans
Friends family clients and everyone who makes my life brighter
I love you all more than peace and quiet
And that is saying something ❤️

Crazy Quest on Oasis of the Seas is pure chaos in the best possible way.
Hands down the most hilarious show I have ever been to on a cruise ship.
Eighteen and up only… and absolutely not for the easily offended.
I laughed so hard I burned enough calories to make up for everything I ate at the buffet. Worth it.
Royal Caribbean really said entertainment level: unhinged.
If you’re looking for a cruise that delivers fun that feels like a night out with the funniest friends you’ve got… this is it. 🚢✨

Who’s brave enough to play Crazy Quest with me next time?

Baby Beach in Cabo Rojo is the definition of paradise. Crystal blue water warm sunshine and the kind of quiet that makes you forget the real world exists.
And then it happened. I spotted a starfish just casually living its best life in the ocean. Tell me why I squealed like a kid in a candy shop. It was absolutely magical and the coolest little surprise of the day.

Moments like that are what travel is all about.
Beautiful places unforgettable memories and stories you talk about forever.

Ready for your own starfish moment
I am here and happy to help you plan it.
