🔺 BEWARE OF EVENT SCAMMERS 🔺 for vendors & tickets
Scammers are unfortunately everywhere these days, not just here on social media. Here is how scammers are using Facebook Events and/or General Postings About The Event to deceive people into giving them money for vendor registrations and/or ticket sales.
Be cautious when interacting with event pages or vendors on Facebook, as 'scammers' often create fake events and fake accounts to steal money or personal information. Before purchasing tickets or registering as a vendor, verify the event organizer’s legitimacy and watch for red flags like unusually low prices, pressure to act quickly, or requests for payment via unconventional methods like gift cards. Always double-check event details, research the organizer, and be wary of deals that seem too good to be true. Protect yourself by investigating thoroughly before sharing any money or personal information.
Also watch out for comments made on posts in group pages or actually on the official page of the event that are FROM INDIVIDUALS describing themselves as an official representative - they post content like "We've had 2 vendor spots open up at the last minute, PM/DM me directly asap to grab one or both of these spots"... or, maybe something like "last minute tickets 50% Off - PM/DM me directly to grab 'em fast"... or, maybe something like "We are sold out but we kept 10 tickets just for group members - PM/DM directly for a discount too!".... and so on and so on.
So, please don't fall for any of their nonsense.
#1 Always go to the Official Events Page or the Host's Page or their Website
#2 Almost 100% of the time an Event Representative (an individual/person) WILL NOT post directly about special spots or discounts - if an event does post it will most likely be FROM THEIR OFFICIAL FACEBOOK ACCOUNT
#3 If it's too good to be true, then almost always let it pass by!
#4 If in doubt or question anything Contact The Event Organizer / Host directly... if you don't know what their page is or their website it, do a search on facebook or do a search on google.
#5 And, if you do run across any scammer posts -or- posts that look fishy REPORT IT to facebook and/or the event host - we all have to do our part to Not Let These Scammers Win!
IF YOU ARE PLANNING AN EVENT -OR- ARE HAVING AN EVENT ----- here is something that you can copy/paste to add along with your event information and/or description --- "BEWARE OF SCAMS - Unfortunately, scams are getting more common here on Facebook relating to events. We continue to delete and block as many fake accounts and fake posts as possible, but it is hard for us to see and know about every single post/scam. We only post about our event from our official event page/account and we do not ever post from a personal/individual account asking for money or offering special prices, vendor spots, or discounted tickets. The only way to register for a vendor spot and/or pay for tickets is by our official link on our page and/or our website. If you might see any suspicious looking posts about our event or any event for that matter please let us know and/or report it to Facebook. We must all chip-in to help combat these unfortunate spammers. Thank you!" --- or something like that, you can add or make changes as necessary.
