Had some time to make myself a shop sign. Each letter is 4 inches tall with the logo being 8 inches in diameter. Overall length of this sign is about 40 inches long 9 1/2 inches wide. This signs shows both inset and outset carving. That lettering is inset (letters removed) and the logo is outset (the background is removed.

This took me a few hours to carve everything (especially my logo). This was my first go at doing anything outset. I think it turned out well

Haven’t posted in a while, but here are two of my most recent projects. The first is a scroll saw face plate of a flamingo that was made for a customer out in California who purchased a set of my lanterns with interchangeable plates a few months ago.

This next project I had the great pleasure of making a new house number sign for some friends, all hand routed and hand-painted and finished with a clear coat that will hold up in the weather for years to come

Wood working Wednesday

“I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

I began making small pocket crosses when I would I needed to clear my head from a frustrating project that wasn’t coming together.

Those crosses found a home on our dining room tables center piece plate where they lived until some guest asked about them one evening. So they became a parting gift for all that visited our home

This Easter I gave out many to friends and coworkers, leading to someone asking if I could make more for them to gift. These 40 crosses are what you see here.

It fills me with joy knowing I need to make more for the guests that visit my home and it’s a beautiful thing that the plate that holds these crosses is empty and needs to be replenished.
