🔧 Hands-On Learning in Action!
ACTC’s Industrial Maintenance and Engineering students toured Pioneer Machinery and Supply, Inc. to explore real-world applications of their classroom learning!
During the visit, students:
⚙️ Watched the repair of a hydraulic cylinder
🔥 Observed welding of sawmill parts
🧰 Learned about the manufacturing of hydraulic hoses
📐 Reviewed CAD drawings and toured the machine shop
🌲 Explored a completed sawmill
Pioneer Machinery builds customizable portable sawmills, sawmill parts, and supplies. Since their first sawmill in 2001, they’ve produced 57 sawmills now located in 11 states!
A huge thank you to Jeff Bobo and the Pioneer team for the incredible tour and hands-on experience. We can’t wait to come back when #58 is in the works!

💡ACTC IT Students Wired for Success!💡

Our IT students had an incredible hands-on learning experience at the Fiber Splicing Rodeo hosted by Ole Miss and Tombigbee Electric Power Association Fiber! 🔧✨

Students learned basic fiber splicing skills from Tombigbee’s expert technicians and even got to try their hand at splicing themselves. The event also offered an exciting opportunity — the top splicers earned scholarships to the Northeast MS Community College Fiber Technician Certification Program! 🎓🎉

We’re proud of our students for stepping up, learning new skills, and representing ACTC so well! 🙌

🚜💛 Big Thanks to Caterpillar! 💛🚜
ACTC was thrilled to welcome Caterpillar to campus for an exciting day of hands-on learning and career exploration!
Students had the opportunity to connect with Caterpillar team members across several areas, including Recruiting, Medical, Marketing/Hospitality, HR, Fuel Pump Assembly, Tooling Knowledge, and even Remote-Control Caterpillar Equipment!
Caterpillar also hosted three fun and educational scavenger hunts:

Our Engineering II ⚙️ and Business, Marketing & Finance II 💼 students had a great visit to Mississippi State University—touring the Bagley College of Engineering and the College of Business, and enjoying lunch at the Fresh Food Company 🍱.

🎉 Cross-Program Collaboration in Action! 🎉

Our Engineering II students recently teamed up with Mr. Tim Bradley and his Construction II crew for some hands-on learning! Mr. Bradley first visited the Engineering classroom to demonstrate safe tool use, including the compound miter saw. A few weeks later, Engineering II visited the Construction shop, where—with guidance from Mr. Bradley and the Construction II students—they put their new skills to work building birdhouses! 🐦
Hands-on learning + teamwork = great success!
