Born Winston Sparkes in Kingston on September 17, 1940, King Stitt grew from a young dancer noticed by Count Machuki into one of the pioneers of Jamaican deejay culture. His journey through Coxsone's Downbeat helped show the world how powerful a voice could be between the records.

The podcast chapter is closing, but the message continues.

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to end the Reggae Hour interviews and full-length podcast episodes. I’m grateful to every artist, guest, listener, and supporter who helped make those conversations possible.

Reggae Hour is not disappearing. The blog will continue, and I’ll be making videos to share reggae history, culture, artists, music, and the message behind it all.

The format is changing. The mission is not.
