Flag Day 2025 Protest & Rally (The Chophouse Staff Editorial)
We at The Chophouse feel strongly about what is happening in this country, though we may differ in our approach to tackling what must be done and about how much we get swept up in the events of the day, we all enjoy working on important subject matter. Some commentary from staff:

The protests reached a critical mass milestone of 11 million which is at least 3.5% of the population. That's the kind of mass it takes to make change happen. HOWEVER... we are still under attack. Trump just ordered ICE to attack blue states only now. Dems in congress support ICE by always increasing funding. If we don't continue the mass protests and organize a general strike, the protest is meaningless. Let's make sure liberals don't go back to brunch.

I mimic what John said, and I think that the protests being so Trump-centered makes it harder to connect on issues we all mostly agree on (like anti-political corruption). He just feels like the poster boy for it. I am tired of making it all about the president. I think this edit was just my attempt to Carly Simon him. ‘You're so vain…’

I also wanted to try matching shot composition precisely in each shot so the head and shoulders were framed just right. I outlined my bust on a piece of cellophane, and attached it underneath the screen protector of my external monitor. I planned to use a 50mm prime Rokinon lens, but I quickly learned that our run and gun approach would need a 24-70mm zoom lens instead. I eventually scrapped the technique because not only was I unable to match my focal length each time, but real people (aka “non-actors”) have different proportions. And because this was only loosely scripted… only two of the lines spoken were written by me… if folks wanted to be in the frame with their significant other(s), I wanted to be okay with that. “Let people be people”.

I really enjoyed seeing the Corvallis community come together to express themselves and participate in the political discussion. Part of what makes this community great is the ability to have a positive and fun environment while tackling difficult and controversial issues. It’s really a movement of love for one’s neighbor.

This is so far the best AI video I've ever seen. Not just the realistic look of it, but concept to ex*****on is pretty seamless, and AI is the only way to achieve something like this. I wonder how much prompting it took?

There's a lot of research involved in producing a documentary. You never know where it will take you. Our work with Tiyeni has introduced us to , and focused our attention on the reality of food poverty in Africa. 40 years ago on December 7th 1984, "Do They Know it's Christmas" was released and it woke the world up to the famine in Ethiopia, raising more than 24 million in record sales alone. Unfortunately, direct aid doesn't solve the problem of food poverty, it really is just a band aid.

We developed this website to draw attention to the fact that industrial agriculture and billionaire philanthropy have done more harm than good in Africa. Real solutions like Tiyeni's Deep Bed Farming are ignored by organizations like AGRA, in favor of industrial processes. Our latest post looks back at 1984, the lack of progress, and what needs to change to really "feed the world" and end .

40 years after Band Aid, 282 million people in Africa face food insecurity, and the climate crisis is making it worse. What needs to change?

World Soil Day is December 5th. Healthy soil is not optional. We need it to survive. can be eliminated if we care for the soil. Industrial farming needs to go. takes care of our land, uses less chemical fertilizers, and increases yields. We're honored to be working with Tiyeni to raise awareness about their highly successful process.

Soil health is critical to our survival. NGO's like Tiyeni are providing real solutions that work in areas devastated by the climate crisis and industrial farming.
