Pope Francis has passed away at the age of 88, according to an official announcement from the Vatican. He died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at his residence in Casa Santa Marta within Vatican City.

The news was delivered early Monday by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, who serves as the Vatican’s camerlengo.

“With heavy hearts, we share that Pope Francis, the Bishop of Rome, departed this life at 7:35 AM,” said Cardinal Farrell. “His life was one of unwavering devotion to God and to the Church.”

May he rest in peace and be remembered for his legacy of humility, compassion, and faith.
