LIFE UPDATE:
Two years ago, I was a 19 year-old with big dreams and a newly finished manuscript on my hands. I had made the decision to save myself from financial debt by not attending college. Instead I was working regular jobs with aspirations of finding success not through a piece of paper, but through dedication, character, and commitment. While doing this, I also determined that I would continue my lifelong dream of being a published author and began prepping my debut novel.
I faced opposition for these choices.
I was told I was ruining my life.
I was told I would have no chance for a career.
I was told I would eventually change my mind and rectify these mistakes by going to college like "everyone else."
That was two years ago.
Now, I am 21. I have that job I worked so hard to get and a college degree had nothing to do with it. I have announced the release date for my YA fantasy novel Ostracized (November 21, don't forget). I am healthy, happy, confident, and proud of the choices that lead me here.
My point is, if I had listened to people telling me how to live my life instead of trusting myself (and God) things might be completely different.
Only you know what you can do! Nobody else knows your thoughts, your commitment, your dreams, and your strength. Don't let them tell you what you can and cannot do with your life.
Also, I would like to say, that despite the negativity, I had loads of support. I was not without encouragement and positivity from the people who mattered most in my life - the people who knew I could do whatever I set my mind to.
For all you dreamers out there, our dreams take time!
They take months and even years.
I've been waiting to be a published author since I was 4.
It's taken me 6 years to get Ostracized to this point.
But I was willing to wait and work and write my way to this dream!
If you put your mind to it, you will succeed.
Whether or not OSTRACIZED is #1 on the bestsellers list does not determine my success.
I already became successful the moment I began this journey!
