Most lumps turn out to be benign. But sarcomas can look like ordinary growths from the start.

Dr. Priscilla Merriam, medical oncologist and clinical director of the Sarcoma Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, explains why sarcomas are often mistaken for lipomas and fibroids, and why it can matter to ask whether a biopsy is needed before treatment decisions move forward.

"Is there anything that seems unusual about this situation?" is a question she encourages patients to bring to their care team.

Fatigue can be easy to miss at an appointment. It comes and goes, and it doesn't always show up on the day you're in the chair.

The randomized PRO B trial asked 909 patients with metastatic breast cancer across 52 German centers to answer a short questionnaire on their phone once a week. When the answers showed symptoms were worsening, an alert went to a nurse or physician, who called within 48 hours.

At six months, fatigue scores were 5.4 points lower than with usual care and physical functioning was 4.0 points better — both past the threshold the researchers set for a meaningful change.

The FDA has approved Tudriqev (vusolimogene oderparepvec-wtpg) plus Opdivo (nivolumab) for adults with unresectable advanced cutaneous melanoma that has progressed after PD-1 immunotherapy.

Tudriqev is an oncolytic viral therapy injected directly into tumors. In the IGNYTE trial, 24.2% of patients saw their tumors shrink, with responses lasting a median of 14.1 months.
