PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Revolutionary National Youth League of the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) extends profound appreciation to the hundreds of thousands of partisans, sympathizers and well-wishers who amid the storm came out to overwhelmingly vote for the mighty CDC on October 10, 2023, and November 14, 2023.

We are so proud of the resilient of CDcians most especially the young people and from the statistics, we can emphatically say that the purported winner of the just-ended poll didn't reflect the popular will of the vast majority of the Liberian people as such the Youth League will continue to stand by the people to hold to the feet their government in bringing the needed change they so desired.

Over the past six years, the country has witnessed tremendous gains in infrastructure development ranging from roads to the building of decent market structures and government offices around the country. We have seen how the economy has come to stable terms with inflation leaving from double digits to single digits, the exchange rate stabilized and the prices of basic commodities stabilized.

We have experienced for the past six years uninterrupted peace, press freedom, civil liberty and academic freedom. The unhindered free tuition policy at all public universities and free WASSCE fees have had a massive gain on our education sector along with the giving of 3,500 supplementary teachers permanent status on the government payroll and Increased their salary from L$8,000 to US$125, added 1,300 teachers and guidance counsellors to the Government payroll, digitilized the University of Liberia and registration process. This historical feat remains the bulwark to investing in education in our country.
We are inclined to note that the massive gains made in our health sector ranging from the construction of 14 military hospitals, Emirates Hospital-Gbarpolu, 150 bedroom hospital- Grand Gedeh, the ongoing construction of the Redemption Hospital, the increase in doctors' salaries from USD 1,000 to USD 2,500 and the gradual increment in nurses salaries.

Six years ago, we took this country from the dungeon with an accumulated total external debt stock of $736 million comprising mostly multilateral loans (IMF report 2018) and domestic debt stock at $206.6 Million overall. Liberia's total annual debt was $942.6 Million at the time the UP-led- administration left office in 2017( IMF & World Bank Report 2018).

Liberia prior to the CDC government was a disaster where almost every sector was crumbling, local commodities skyrocketed, our national reserve was used to pay salaries, and inflation was at an all-time high thus setting a pace for economic turbulence for the CDC's government in 2018. With the help of the IMF and World Bank coupled with the sound economic policy of the CDC’s government, we have again witnessed the country getting on the right trajectory of national development during the course of the past six years and we only hope those coming to power will accelerate the massive gains been made and will not ruin our cherished path to national development like they did before.

The Revolutionary National Youth League -CDC will continue to hold accountable the reemergence of the despotic regime of the Unity Party whenever they digress from the fundamental pillars of democracy and try to thwart the massive gains made over the past six years. We will be around as always to stand for the people and to check the possible mass looting of our country. We wish to see the fulfillment of the first 100 days of many promises where “no car will stuck in the mud on any roads”, we hope to see the alleviation of the people from “abject poverty “ in 100 days, the eradication of illicit drugs, the stabilization of basic commodities below the current one, exchange rate stabilization and the control of inflation in the first 100 days as promised. We await the signal of the people to stand with them in mass action when all those promises are not met.

Furthermore, the Revolutionary National Youth League -CDC urges the next government to make use of existing audit reports and if need be conduct a forensic audit of the outgoing government for the past six years. We believe that accountability breeds national trust and national trust breeds transparency; a feat the CDC's government has achieved over the past six years with consistent periodic audits of the consolidated account and the strengthening of the internal audit at various MACS which has created control and internal transparency thus eliminating any act of corruption in public service for the past six years.

The Youth League would also like to call on our international partners, Civil Society, political parties and the National Legislature to join us in this fight as we call for electoral reform to avoid vote rigging and individual voting twice as was done in the November 14, polls specifically in Nimba County by Mr Joseph N. Boakai Unity Party. Our quest for Electoral reform is in conformity with democratic norms of free, fair, and transparent electioneering processes. This reform would establish a more punishable offence for one person voting twice and people voting to precinct they are not registered as in the case of Mr. Jeremiah Koung in Nimba county.

Consequently, the Revolutionary National Youth League would like to congratulate all the legislators elected on the ticket of the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change both in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

With the popular mandate of the Liberian people given the Coalition for Democratic Change in the House of Representatives with a whopping number of Twenty-Five (25) elected Representatives along with other political allies, there is no possibility why we shouldn't produce the next Speaker of the House of Representative.

Having listened to the overwhelming decision of the National Executive Committee of the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change coupled with an independent survey conducted by the Youth League and with numerous consultations with many incoming and outgoing lawmakers, the Revolutionary National Youth League -CDC has resolved to support Hon. Fonatti Koffa, Representative-Elect of District #1, Grand Kru county. Hon. Koffi is a seasoned legislator who is well-prepared, knowledgeable, and experienced and represents the true embodiment of the ideological construct of the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change.

The Youth League believes strongly that when Hon. Koffa is elected Speaker, the legislature will gain its independent status and exercise its legislative responsibilities without fear or favor. This will serve as a genuine step toward putting an end to the culture of the imperial presidency and ushering in a legislature of robust oversight, adequate representation and proper lawmaking.

In conclusion, we have witnessed for the past few months before and after the elections the mass killing of partisans of the mighty Coalition for Democratic Change by the death squad militias of the Unity Party. Those martyrs' comrades include but are not limited to Partisan Aloycious Barh in Nimba, killed under the direct instruction of Mr Jeremiah Koung, Tamba Momoh and Josiah Gayduo in Foya, Lofa and a few days ago Partisan Joshua Solomon all killed under the direct instruction of Mr. Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

Amid all these wanton human rights abuses by Mr Boakai and his death squad militia led by former rebel Abraham Kromah, the police have been extremely lackadaisical and completely taciturn in dispersing justice for all these innocent CDCians that were murdered in broad day.

Comrade partisans, we are completely aware of how the Liberia National Police has been infiltrated and politically weaponized by Mr. Joseph Nyumah Boakai to deny innocent families justice for the killing of scores of CDCians.

As the ultimate gatekeepers of the people's struggle, the Youth League will peacefully assemble on January 22, 2024 at an unspecified location to demand justice for all innocent CDcians who have been killed by the Unity Party.
Once again, we would like to salute the gallantry of all CDcians and call on you to remain committed to the ideology of the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change as we continue to remain the beacon of HOPE the Liberian people can COUNT ON.

Done and issued on this 6th Day of December AD 2023 by the mandate of the National Executive Committee of the Revolutionary National Youth League of the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC.

A official Facebook post from Mo Ali a official member of Unity Party concerning about the late Joshua Gbor death certificate. Please read below 👇

I’ve said that the CDC used Francis Kolleh to forged a “Death Certificate” for Joshua.

Dr. Benetta Collins Andrew is the Chairperson of the Liberia Medical and Dental Council, the organization responsible to issue license to medical doctors. Below is what she wrote about the Joshua “Death Certificate” that the CDC is parading with to claim that Joshua was killed by the UP.

“Unfortunately, I cannot respond to all the many inbox queries concerning the recent “death certificate” circulating on social media.

However, I really don’t see any death certificate here because under our current medical regulatory dispensation, only a LICENSED Medical Doctor is authorized to sign a death certificate in Liberia. The signatory to the piece of paper circulating on social media is not in the registry of the Liberia Medical and Dental Council. Hopefully this helps for now!”

At this point, the police needs to arrest Francis Kpoleh along with those CDCians who bribed to gain the fake death certificate.

Report coming from Grand Gedeh aren’t looking good!

Tension builds in Grand Gedeh as Traditional council local office burnt.

Tension is building up in Zwedru as angry crowd sets ablaze Traditional council office in the city following the death of Rep Erol Madison Gwion.

According to our National correspondent in Southeastern Liberia, some supporters of the late lawmaker are pointing fingers at the sister of the late lawmaker Beatrice Gwion for his death.
She is believed to be of the Traditional council in Grand Gedeh County.

Supporters of the late lawmaker accused his sister of pulling powder on his neck during his victory celebration recently upon getting re-elected as representative in the October 10 election.

The angry also attacked the home of Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue. It remains unclear the cause of death of Rep Gwion.

Breaking News!!!

Hon. Erol Madison Gwion, CDC Representative of District #1, Grand Gedeh County, Passes Away Just After Election Triumph.

We bring you the regrettable news of the demise of Hon. Erol Madison Gwion, the esteemed CDC Representative of Tchien District #1 in Grand Gedeh County. According to a close family source, Hon. Gwion succumbed to a lingering illness earlier this morning.

This heartbreaking event follows his recent victory in the October 10 elections, where he was re-elected to serve his district for an additional six-year term. Hon. Gwion's political journey began in earnest when he was first elected during the by-election in 2020. The former district representative, Hon. Zoe Emmanuel Pennoh, had been promoted to the Senate after a successful senatorial election campaign.

Hon. Pennoh's preferred successor was Hon. Sokan, but the constituents had other plans. Hon. Gwion triumphed in the by-election without the endorsement of the ruling party or Hon. Pennoh, marking a significant political upset.

However, his tenure was not devoid of conflict. An ongoing feud between Hon. Gwion and Hon. Pennoh created tension within the county's administration. Adding to the intrigue, the county's acting magistrate mysteriously disappeared following the 2020 election results and remains missing.

In a bitter twist of fate, Hon. Gwion was due to be officially certified by the NEC as the winner of the electoral district #1, Grand Gedeh County, on Friday, December 8. Tragically, he has passed away before this milestone could be achieved.

As we mourn the passing of Hon. Gwion, we remember his resilience, his dedication to his constituents, and his exceptional political journey.

Lofa Citizens Demand End to Senatorial Election Bottleneck Staged By Defeated CDC Candidate Moses Y. Kollie.

Kolba City, Kolahun-A group under the banner “Concerned Citizens United to Defend Democracy” have called on Defeated CDC senatorial candidate in the recent election Moses Kollie to rescind his election complaint filed with the National Election Commission and accept the will of the people of Lofa as reflected in the Lofa by-election. The group, comprising prominent citizens from Lofa and predominantly from the Gbandiland chiefdom in their press statement issued today also called on Magistrate Robert Sele, the Lower Lofa Magistrate who is presiding over the the matter to immediately dispose the case that have dragged on for over a month and allow the Lofa people’s duly elected senator to play meaningful role in the impending senate leadership election.

“We want to assure you that any attempt to circumvent the genuine will of the people will not be tolerated by a micro inch, and we urge the commission to prioritize the democratic ideals that our nation holds and retain its credibility of managing elections as affirmed by international observers in their handling of the October 10 poll”, the group said in their statement.

Press Statement by Concerned Citizens of Lofa United to Defend Democracy on the Recent Senatorial Election

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kolba City-Kolahun, December 3, 2023— In an alarming development following the October 10, 2023 elections, defeated senatorial candidate Moses Kollie has chosen to undermine the democratic process by initiating a baseless legal challenge against the rightful winner, Senator-elect Momo Cyrus. This attempt to hold democracy hostage is not only unwarranted but poses a serious threat to the integrity of our electoral system.

Our democracy thrives on the will of the people, as expressed through their votes. It is deeply regrettable that Mr. Kollie has chosen to contest the results without substantial evidence, casting doubt on the legitimacy of an election that accurately reflected the voice of the electorate. Such actions erode public trust and set a dangerous precedent for future electoral processes.

But there are even more concerning things that are worrying and show the acute desperation of Mr. Kollie in his attempt to undermine true democracy.

On October 12, Mr. Kollie led a self proclaimed “victory” celebration in Salayea city ahead of the official results pronouncement by the NEC.

A week after that, precisely when the national elections commission released official results on October 18, which declared Mr. Cyrus as winner of the October 10 poll for the senate in Lofa, Mr Kollie filed a complaint before the NEC where he alleged irregularities that he claims resulted to his defeat.

Specifically in his complaint filed before that august body which is dated on October 19, 2023, Mr. Kollie alleged that “valid vote counts for him in 10 polling places were declared as invalid by election workers”.

While a determination was yet to be made in this matter before the hearing officer of the National Election Commission, Mr. Kollie and lawyers, realizing that even if all the invalid votes in the 10 polling places he alleged irregularities took place were added to his votes obtained, it still couldn’t alter his defeat, they went ahead on October 23 to revise their first case filed before that august body and now claimed that “invalid votes for Mr. Cyrus was declared as valid votes”. The new intend of this modification is to try to tamper with the actual valid votes of Mr. Cyrus and probably alter his decisive victory on October 10.

We are left wondering upon these few questions:

1. What informed Mr. Kollie’s victory celebration in Salayea on October 12 ahead of NEC’s official pronouncements? Did he not realize at that time that “his valid votes were counted as invalid”?
2. While did he not state originally in his complaint that “invalid votes for senator-elect Cyrus were declared valid”, only until when he realized that all of the invalid votes in the ten polling places couldn’t alter the results?

We are respecters of the laws of this country and respect each citizen’s rights to seek redress through legal means.

But this case filed by Mr Kollie and his collaborators is not only a legal hoax that lacks any substance, but also it’s an evil ploy to delay Senator-elect Cyrus from participating in the pending senate leadership election, thus denying the people of Lofa any major committee in the 55th legislature. It’s high time this case be disposed off.

Fellow citizens, it will astonish you further to know that against all warnings from the U.S. government, the lawyer hired by Kollie to hatch his evil political plan is Cllr. Saymah Cyrena Cephus. This action of Mr. Kollie casts aspersions on the well known character of the great people of Lofa as a county of integrity and an attempt to put Lofa under critical radar with the U.S. government.

We the concerned citizens of Lofa United to Defend Democracy, Comprising supporters of all of the senatorial candidates who contested the October 10, election, realizing that elections are over and it’s time to move forward as a county, do hereby call upon Mr. Kollie to immediately reconsider his stance and respect the democratic principles that form the bedrock of our county and country. Furthermore, we issue a stern warning to the national election commission to uphold their responsibility in ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process. We specifically warn Magistrate Robert Sele to do the needful of conclusively disposing this legal sham off to protect his integrity and provide our senator-elect Momo Cyrus an opportunity to take part in the pending senate leadership election. We want to assure you that any attempt to circumvent the genuine will of the people will not be tolerated by a micro inch, and we urge the commission to prioritize the democratic ideals that our nation holds and retain its credibility of managing elections as affirmed by international observers in their handling of the October 10 poll.

As we navigate this situation, it is imperative for all stakeholders to prioritize the stability and democratic values that define our great county and country. We trust that this clarion call of defending our cherished democracy will be taking very seriously, reinforcing the strength of our democratic institutions and safeguarding the trust placed in them by the citizens of Lofa, yea Liberia.

We the people, being the ones who can designate leaders and remove same if we deem it fit, will not hesitate to use unspecified political actions that are within the ambit of the laws of this land to defend our democracy if anything to the contrary.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen of the fourth estate.

MONROVIA – The Liberian Senate is on the verge of making unprecedented history as they prepare to elect the second female Senate Pro-Tempore in the history of the legislative politics in Liberia, following in the footsteps of Madam Grace Beatrice Minor.

At present, Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence is poised to replace Senator Albert Chie of Grand Kru County, who is not seeking re-election after serving in that position for six years. However, the Pro-Temp position will not be handed to her on a silver platter.

Rumors are circulating that Margibi County Senator Emmanuel Nuquay has a vested interest in contesting for the position. However, he faces the challenge of rallying his colleagues’ support, as some have openly expressed skepticism about his ambition for the Pro-Temp position.

In contrast to Nuquay, Senator Karnga-Lawrence enters the contest with favorable prospects, enjoying the backing of incoming President Joseph Boakai and the majority of her colleagues in the Senate. There are speculations that President-Elect Joseph Boakai committed to supporting the Grand Bassa County Senator during the campaign, promising his support for her Pro-Temp bid in exchange for her support in his bid for the Presidency, after denying her the opportunity to be his running mate.

Senator Karnga-Lawrence is currently serving her second term as the Bassa Senator and chairs the Rules, Order, and Administration Committee at the Senate. If elected, she will be the second female in the history of the Liberian Senate.

Who is Senator Karnga-Lawrence?

Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence is a two-term Senator and the first female Senator of Grand Bassa County. Born and raised in Liberia, a small country on the west coast of Africa, she has endured significant adversity, including surviving a 15-year civil war that engulfed her homeland.

A renowned women’s rights campaigner and social justice activist, Nyonblee was first elected to the Senate in 2013 and reelected during the 2020 midterm elections.

Throughout her first term, she stood as the only female in a Senate comprising 29 men. Despite facing attempts by male chauvinists in the Senate to distract her, she persisted, earning nicknames such as the “lioness” and the “iron lady of the Senate.”

As Senator, Nyonblee has dedicated her time, energy, and resources to amplify the voices of Liberians, particularly those at the lowest socio-economic levels. She continues to confront powerful forces that threaten the economic and social well-being of the Liberian people.
