📢Announcement📢

Hi all!! We recently started a pet food pantry for the families and pets in need in our community! Here is some important information on it as well as how to get involved or contact us if you are in need!

💙🩵 Endless Pawsibilities supplies pet food to families in our community who need some additional help feeding their pets and getting through difficult times. We believe that no animal should ever go hungry and we will do our best to make sure that it never happens! By collecting and providing pet food to those in need, we help to keep pets with their families and out of overcrowded shelters.

Days/Times of Operation
Our pantry is not open to the public. If you need assistance,
please contact Judy Teel at 775-397-3187 to make an appointment.
Important Rules and Guidelines:

*When available, we offer free dog and cat food.
*Our operations are based on the donations of others; therefore, we cannot guarantee that any specific type of dog or cat food will consistently be available.

*A member of each household must be present to receive pet food, as we do not allow anyone to pick up food for households other than their own.

*Each household is eligible to pick up pet food every 30 days. If your household needs pet food more often, please speak to an Endless Pawsibilities volunteer for more information.

*Each household is limited to one bag of pet food per species of animal that lives in the home.

*This program is intended to be supplementary and is not intended to be the sole provider of support for you and your pets. Pet owners should always be prepared to provide food and veterinary care for their pets.

*Breeding or planning to breed your pet will result in immediate removal from the program.

*Participation in the pet food pantry can be revoked at the discretion of any Endless Pawsibilities volunteer for any reason; including the following: Disruptive behavior including inappropriate language, violence or threat of violence, hostile behavior towards any Endless Pawsibilities volunteer, clients, or affiliates, or any other reason deemed irresponsible, rude, or inhumane towards animals or people.

*Pet food received from the pet food pantry will not be resold or redistributed for any circumstance.

*Endless Pawsibilities will not be held accountable for any illness or allergic reactions from the pet food given to any household. Any pets who have a negative reaction towards any pet food are the owner’s responsibility and should be taken to the owner’s veterinarian.

If you would like to donate dog or cat food to our pet food pantry, please speak to an Endless Pawsibilities volunteer, or drop pet food off at either of our donation bins located at Elko Vet Clinic or our facility located at 2193 Industrial Way in Elko! 🩵💙

The City of Elko Animal Shelter is incredibly proud to announce that, for the first time in our history, we have achieved a save rate for our animals to be considered “No-Kill”!

What does that mean? “No-Kill” (as defined by Best Friends Animal Society), means that no less than 90% of the animals who entered the shelter in the past 12 months have found happy homes, been reunited with their families, or been saved by one of our amazing rescue partners. It means that any animal whowas healthy and treatable was given the opportunity to live a full and happy life. It also means that the only time humane euthanasia occurred was when it was the absolute last option available. That means that in the last 12 months, 1,837 animals entered the shelter and 1,679 were saved; a 91% save rate!

Operating as an “Open Admission” shelter means we don’t say “no” when an animal is brought to us. We may provide resources, give alternatives, and do whatever we can to keep that pet in the home, but we are the last resort and always there if needed. Being “Open Admission” makes this an even bigger accomplishment for us.
To be clear, we are not sharing this accomplishment just as the staff of the Elko Animal Shelter. We are sharing this accomplishment because YOU are part of the reason we got here. For an animal shelter like ours to be successful, it’s not just because of the hard work of our staff or the dedication of rescues; it’s because we understand and fully believe lifesaving is a community effort. Every member of our community plays a role in our success and impacts saving lives.

• If you are an adopter, foster, volunteer, and/or donor, you have helped save a life.
• If you are a pet owner who struggled to keep your pet and took the time to find a new loving home for them instead of bringing them to the shelter, you potentially saved the life of not just your own animal, but helped make sure we had the space for an animal who was abandoned or lost.
• If you spayed or neutered your pet to make sure there were no accidental litters.
• Or if you took part in any other program or alternative that meant every space in our shelter was filled only by the animals who truly had no other choice, you saved a life.

Going into 2025, we aim to make this level of lifesaving the standard for Elko! It’s what our staff have always wanted and we believe our community deserves. That means that we will continue to work towards implementing programming that would be considered “Best Practices” in Animal Welfare. We will continue to build partnerships with both local and national organizations. Most importantly, we will continue to care. ❤️

We can’t do it on our own though, so please, help us continue this amazing progress in any way you can. To learn more on how you can support the Elko Animal Shelter or to find your new best friend, please visit our department’s site here:

To the Citizens of Eureka County;

Today, I write you with clarity, conviction and peace. I will retire from the Office of the Sheriff, of Eureka County on January 11th, 2025.

When I ran for the Office of Sheriff in 2018, I planned to be here for many years and retire out when my kids were out of school and on their own path to life.

Since being in office, we have made many important changes, improvements and pushed this agency into the next century of service.

Without a doubt, these accomplishments have came at great cost. The greatest cost has been to my family. The sacrifice they’ve paid, has been too costly and has caused heart ache, missed events and lost time.

In life, we only get so much time, so having lost that time, has been the greatest cost to my kids, their mother and I. For this, I am forever sorry to them.

I wish the Citizens and Visitors of Eureka County the greatest success moving forward as this chapter closes and a new path will be forged by the next person to hold the Office of Sheriff.

Respectfully and Sincerely,

Jesse J. Watts
