Downtown Snow Removal Notice – Overnight Work Scheduled

The City of Crookston Public Works Department will be conducting downtown snow clean-up tonight, December 11, from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM tomorrow, December 12.

Crews will be working to remove as much snow downtown as possible. To help us complete this work safely and efficiently, we ask all residents and business owners to avoid parking on downtown streets during this time and to keep vehicles away from large snow piles in the area.

Your cooperation will help ensure safer travel and faster clean-up throughout the downtown area.

Garbage services are running as normal today, but collection may be a little slower due to the snow-covered streets. Our Public Works plow crews will do their best to work around bins that are placed in the roadway.

Once today’s garbage route is completed, our crews will be back out tomorrow to continue widening the streets and pushing snow closer to the berm.

Please remove your bins as soon as they’ve been serviced.
This small step really helps our crews clear snow more efficiently and keeps the roads safer for everyone.

Our Public Works street crews have been out plowing most of the day, working hard to keep roads open and passable throughout Crookston. We will continue addressing streets as conditions change.

Weather Forecast for Crookston (Tonight into Tomorrow):

Tonight: Snow and heavy snow are likely, with accumulating snow expected across the area. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through early Wednesday morning.

Overnight / Early Wednesday Morning: Snow may taper off, but patchy blowing and drifting snow are possible — meaning roads may remain slick and visibility could be reduced.

Wednesday (Tomorrow): Blustery and colder with possible flurries. High temperatures around the mid-teens (F), with lows dropping below zero (F) overnight. Conditions will remain breezy, and residual snow/drifting may cause hazards.

Because of the conditions forecasted, our crews will stay on alert through the night and tomorrow — plowing as needed tonight, and returning early in the morning to reopen roads, widen streets where possible, and finish clearing parking lots.

Out of caution for the impacts of the winter storm this afternoon, Altru will close clinic and outpatient services at 1 p.m. with a few exceptions:

Radiation Oncology at Altru Cancer Center
Outpatient Dialysis in Grand Forks and Devils Lake
Radiology at Altru Hospital
Nephrology
Endoscopy
Altru Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy
Patients also have the following options available:

Altru’s Emergency Department at Altru Hospital
Open 24/7

The Express Clinic at Altru Professional Center:
Open until 7 p.m.

All impacted patients will be contacted to reschedule appointments or make other arrangements.

A University of Minnesota Crookston marketing class will hold a presentation Monday, Dec. 8 at 12 p.m. at Valley Technology Park, 510 County Road 71, Crookston. Note the date of this presentation was initially scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 3 (tomorrow).

There may be a quorum of Crookston Housing & Economic Development Authority Board members present at the meeting.
