He lay down to rest. An hour later, his wife found him dead. He was thirty-two years old. The most famous martial artist in the world was gone.

The official cause of death was cerebral edema, swelling of the brain caused by an allergic reaction to a medication. But many people never accepted this explanation. The circumstances were too strange. The timing was too convenient. And the secrets were too many.

Bruce Lee was at the height of his fame. He had just completed "Enter the Dragon" with Warner Bros. He was negotiating new deals worth millions. He was starting to bring Asian martial arts films to mainstream American audiences. But he also had powerful enemies. The Hong Kong film industry was controlled by Triads, organized crime syndicates. They may have wanted a piece of his success or resented his influence.

In 2018, a researcher named Darren Shillington proposed an alternative theory.
