The Summer of Hope šŸ©µ

The first part of this video shows Callum around the age of 3. No stimming. No repetitive behaviors. No meltdowns. No aggression. No banging his head or self injurious behaviors. No echolalia. No sleep disturbances. No restrictive diet. No regression. No spacing out. No obsessive behaviors. Truly a neurotypical kid.

Fast forward.

The second part of the video was March of last year. Severe stimming. Severe self injurious behaviors. Severe echolalia. Severe repetitive behaviors. While you donā€™t see them here severe meltdowns.

Believe it or not, his behavior is much, much worse today.

Now he has Extreme stimming. Extreme self injurious behavior and head banging. Extreme repetitive and obsessive behaviors. Extreme echolalia. Extreme meltdowns and violent behavior. Extreme restrictive diet. Extreme aggression. Extreme sleep disturbances. Extreme regression. Extreme mood shifts and irritability. Extreme inability to focus, sit still and must be moving at all times. This is every single day, all day long.

Last summer, I desperately tried to get Callum into a Neurologist at CHOA, to no avail - they refused him as a patient.

I got a call this morning from the doctor in Alabama that specializes in Autism/ADHD/Developmental Delay/PANS/PANDAS and Callum has his evaluation on June 29th!!

He has an evaluation with CHOA Neuroimmunology on July 1st.

Callum has already started treatment for neuroinflammation and overgrowth of yeast in his gut.

I truly have been grasping at hope for the past 6 months but I pray he gets help and starts being the best Callum can be again soon.

It is hard to believe the school year is almost over! For the most part, Callum has had a great year. I love seeing him ...

Callum sees the pediatric neurologist for the first time this week.

Callumā€™s recent behavior changes include banging his head and face. He was fine to start off, playing with cars and then he gets a blank look on his face and starts doing this over and over.

I have not taken the time lately to post on Callumā€™s page. My family has been going through a really rough patch and so has Callum.
Since early Janurary, we have seen significant changes in Callum, his behavior and how he has regressed in so many areas. His stimming/self harm at home has gotten very severe, he has completely stopped or refusing to use the potty, his focus and attention at home is nonexistent, he is back to having meltdowns and not following directions or being cooperative.
I had a very lengthy discussion with his psychiatrist yesterday, which was a f/u from an appt I made urgently a couple of weeks ago. His bloodwork was perfect, so no concerns there.
His psychiatrist is going to review Callumā€™s case with 2 other psychiatrist and I will hear back next week with a plan.
In the meantime, keep us in your prayers and send positive vibes.

Happy Superbowl Sunday šŸˆ

It has been a minute since I did an update on Callum. Life has been busy with me undergoing hip surgery, PT and recovering from that.

We also have seen an increase in some concerning behaviors with Callum over the past several weeks. Not sure if it has been related to my surgery, not feeling 100% myself or something underlying.

Rewind to Thanksgiving - we all had the flu, Callum really struggled with getting over it and ended up needing antibiotics in Dec/Jan. We then saw a huge increase in stimming, self injuries (unintentional) he lost the ability to focus at home, repeating everything he does over and over. Truly, as a parent - so hard to see your child go through this.

I made an urgent appointment with his psychiatrist, we went over everything in detail and reviewed his med list. We had bloodwork done last week, havenā€™t gotten those back yet. He sees his pediatrician just to make sure we arenā€™t missing any underlying illness. I did bring up PANS/PANDAS with the psychiatrist appt but she said there isnā€™s a specific test for but she may end up referring him out to a neurologist.

I also withdrew Callum from ABA, he will be back in school FT now and I may explore home therapy.

He has been doing amazing at potty training, with the exception of #2 but he is showing very good signs that p**p goes in the toilet instead of his boxers šŸ˜†
