I Remember 🎗️: Billy Sims was a Heisman Trophy winner and Detroit Lions star running back who was on a Hall of Fame trajectory before a devastating knee injury abruptly ended his career. Billy Ray Sims is a former professional football player and 1978 Heisman Trophy winner. In college, he played for the Oklahoma Sooners, setting the school record for career rushing yards and leading the team to back-to-back Orange Bowl wins. In the 1980 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected Sims as the first overall pick. He was a Pro Bowler for his first three seasons and helped lead the Lions to the playoffs in 1982 and 1983.
