Itโ€™s always tough coming to another Valentineโ€™s Day single when the world tells you that maybe you should have that person in your life by now. A lot of people scramble to find a date or someone to spend time with on this day as it approaches. Obviously, those situations never last. As a Nigerian single male training professional in his 30โ€™s, I feel that pressure every year. There are many timelines I thought I would have completed by now but it feels like none of them have come to fruition. The reality is that Iโ€™ve accomplished a lot in my lifetime but having a secular perspective steals my joy. Social media and itโ€™s curated perfection muddies my eyes with comparison and envy. Thereโ€™s always someone better than me. Thereโ€™s always someone who has something I want. Iโ€™m exhausted mentally and emotionally by the end of the day without lifting a finger. I think this is where God allows me to bring myself because when I hit the floor, He is there. I canโ€™t blame anyone but myself, but He remains present to absolve my shortcomings. He fills me with joy, love and peace and letโ€™s me taste what life is like with His goodness. Itโ€™s a euphoria that canโ€™t be explained well with words but can be summarized by this verse. If youโ€™re single on this day and feel the void Iโ€™m talking about, lean into Him. He knows your desires and wants to give you good gifts. Trust Him. Enjoy Him. His ways and plans are perfect regarding you.
