Even disposable plates, cups and utensils can be beautiful. We celebrated the Mothers in our Church by having a “Garden Brunch” prior to service. I decided late Friday what theme I wanted, and with the help of my kids, teamwork made the dream work, lol! The mothers all received flowers and their own personal teapots as presents, there were special songs and videos, lots of delicious food, and most of all…lots of love, tears and appreciation for the toughest job on earth. Happy Mother’s Day! ❤️

This group introduced me to the Lenox Autumn pattern, which was an instant must-have for me. This is my first time setting my table with it. I paired it with my Lenox Laurel Leaf tablecloth and napkins in Platinum (crown fold). It's perfect for my Father's Day setting.

A MONET-INSPIRED
MOTHER’S DAY TABLE 🌸💐🌼
Art was among my mother’s many joys and interests. In 1967, she was one of the founding docents of the Princeton University Art Museum, where she spent decades learning and teaching and giving tours to the public. She especially appreciated impressionist painting — that of Claude Monet was her favorite. One of his famous paintings, “Waterlilies and Japanese Bridge,” was gifted to the the Princeton University Art Museum in 1973.
This Mother’s Day table was inspired by that painting and Monet’s other colorful, serene and harmonious garden paintings. I, too, love Monet’s work as well as so many of my mother’s “things,” which are now mine.
On this very challenging tablescape, I’ve incorporated four of my mother’s coveted teacups and saucers from her vast collection. I picked up the dinner plates (Nikko, Secret Garden) and the bread and butter plates (occupied Japan) at a local thrift shop a couple years ago. The vintage pink wine glasses are from my depression glass collection, which my mother was always excited to add to, when she came across a piece.
I created the “water” from silky scarves, and the impressionistic “flowers” are fabric “petals” I bought on Amazon, along with the lily pads and floating candles. I am proud to say that I assembled, with tools(!), my own version of the “Japanese Bridge” that Monet often painted.
This tablescape, though not my most functional, is one of my personal favorites. It was created with lots of love as a gift to my beautiful mother in heaven for Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother’s Day to all!!! 🌸💐🌼

Wanted to share my Princess Tea Party from Saturday. I had five littles, 6 and under. I used my real china as I wanted them to feel grown-up.
I served uncrustables cut in quarters, toasted cheese sandwiches cut in quarters, cucumber tea sandwiches and egg salad tea sandwiches.
And for dessert we had homemade pink kisses cookies, and pink cupcakes.
Forgot to mention that the “tea” was pink lemonade.
We played lots of games and they all had a memorable day! They loved all the games, but the best one was Ariels Treasure Hunt. I bought about 100 little toys that we scattered around the yard, front and back, and then gave each princess a bag to hunt for treasures. They had a blast!
I also made the little princess bows they are wearing. Super easy. Just tulle and a hairclip and wire. I was so happy that they all (but the youngest) wore one.
My daughter and I were Princess Diaries, and the littles were their favorite Disney princess.

This group is a wealth of ideas for us dish-loving members. I saw someone else pairing lemons with black and white and had to try it myself, as it allowed me to use my thrifted black stem wine goblets. I call it dish serendipity. I thrifted two of these black stemware several years ago for practically nothing, as they were on a four items for a dollar deal, and I needed a fourth item. I kept hoping to find two more, and while shopping at the Goodwill on senior day, I found the matching pair.

My sister coming today to celebrate my birthday.
She is on dialysis and very rarely going-out.
Hopefully she can stay longer so we can chat tete-a- tête-à-tête.
The dishes mix and mach : Rogers Brother, Bavarian porcelain butter plates, sugar and creamer Mikasa, Russian wine glasses, Waterford cognac glasses , teacup Karlovarsky porcelain .
The meals I will serve later.
Sincerely, Lucy.

Lost in Lenox once again.
Over the weekend, a thrift store find resulted in another splurge on dishes by my favorite company, Lenox! The pattern is known as, Lenox Classic Edition.
The price for 75 pieces of this pattern was too tempting to pass up. But, my thrill often becomes bittersweet knowing someone was forced to decluttered or perhaps an estate sale resulted in this bargain causing me to reflect on an earlier time when I couldn’t afford such elegance. But, it seems now these wonderful treasures are no longer in vogue. And, so, here I am again, lost in Lenox.
I’m curious if anyone has displayed the pattern and if they can share their photos? I’m looking for advice on how to dress out this formal look. Should I use dark green chargers or something else to bring out the gold?
It wasn’t a pattern I particularly had my heart set on until I saw the price. It made no sense to leave them behind ::)). And now, I’d like to give them the opportunity they deserve in a beautiful tablescape.
Many thanks for your ideas and photos.
