To the Black women who mother through exhaustion, lead through pain, and still somehow create beauty in the middle of chaos, we honor you. Happy Mother’s Day to the women redefining strength, softness, and survival every single day. ✨

Black women are not tired because we’re weak.
We’re tired because we’ve been expected to be strong for too long.

The “strong Black woman” label?
It don’t just uplift us; it traps us.

It tells us to keep going when we need to stop.
To hold it all when we’re falling apart.
To be everything for everybody… and nothing for ourselves.

And baby, that kind of strength will wear you all the way down.

This episode is for the woman who’s exhausted but still showing up.
The one nobody checks on because “you got it.”
The one who’s ready to put something down.

🎧 The Strength Trap: Why Black Women Are Tired, out now.

Let’s talk about it.

Before feminism had a name, Sojourner Truth stood before crowds and asked a question the world still struggles to answer:

“Ain’t I a woman?”

She challenged racism and sexism in the same breath — forcing America to confront the truth about who was denied humanity.

Her voice was powerful enough to echo through centuries.

International Women’s Day is about more than celebration.

It’s about honoring the women who dare to think differently, challenge expectations, and live their truth out loud.

At Anomalous Black Women, we celebrate the women who refuse to shrink themselves for the comfort of others.

The thinkers.
The creators.
The rebels.
The visionaries.

To every woman walking her own path — this space is for you.

Happy International Women’s Day.

Black history is loud.
It’s creative.
It’s unapologetic.

It sounds like our laughter.
Our truths.
Our stories told without shrinking.

This month we celebrate the women who made space for us and the ones still breaking ceilings today.

Anomalous on purpose. Always.

We honor a giant whose brilliance quietly changed the world.
Dr. Gladys Mae West, mathematician, scientist, trailblazer, transitioned at 95, leaving behind a legacy written into the very fabric of modern life.

Before GPS guided our road trips, located our loved ones, or helped emergency responders arrive in time… there was Dr. West. A Black woman from rural Virginia, solving complex equations about the shape of the Earth in rooms where few women, and even fewer Black women, were ever invited to enter.

She didn’t chase recognition. She chased precision.
And in doing so, she helped the world find its way.

May we remember her not just for what she built, but for what she proved:
That brilliance does not need permission to exist.

Rest in power, Dr. Gladys Mae West.
We are still walking paths you made possible. 🕊️✨
