Story Time: What It Took to Obtain This Certificate. Here and Now.

As a young 23-year-old, my mom always told me I was great at tech. Being a millennial—born into the decade of technology—and hearing her say that was enough to give me a big head. I didn’t really understand what she meant at the time, but I kept thinking I was "a badass" in tech.

Like any good mom, she saw something in me that I’m only now discovering—that the tech guru in me was dormant. Looking back, I realize that just being young and surrounded by technology, whether through gaming or social media, gave me the impression I was tech-savvy. But as I’ve gained real experience, I’ve learned so much more about web development and coding, and I’m finally reaching a level where I feel comfortable.

I overestimated my abilities back then. And, honestly, I overestimated my abilities at the beginning of this course too—just because I could now "code." This certification feels like vindication of that journey—despite my early struggles, I’ve grown. When I attempted to launch my own e-commerce store on Shopify three years ago, it didn’t succeed. That experience was humbling, but it motivated me to keep learning. This certificate is a statement of how far I’ve come since then. It’s not Shopify, but it’s a step forward. At last I can say this:
