It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Ted Carpenter, one of the 2026 Rockwall Firefighters’ Ball recipients. Ted passed away on Monday, which was also his 48th birthday.
Ted died following a courageous battle with occupational cancer caused by exposures he experienced throughout his firefighting career. Because his cancer resulted from his service as a firefighter, his passing is recognized as a line-of-duty death—a solemn reminder of the risks firefighters continue to face long after the flames are extinguished.
Ted was a devoted husband to Bree, a loving father to Aubree and Tate, a faithful Christian, and a Dallas firefighter who dedicated more than two decades to serving and protecting others. His courage, kindness, faith, and love for his family touched countless lives.
We extend our deepest condolences to Ted’s family, his Dallas Fire-Rescue family, and everyone who knew and loved him. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they walk through this unimaginable loss.
The mission of the Firefighters’ Ball is to stand beside firefighters and their families during times of illness, injury, and hardship. That mission is more important now than ever. Proceeds from this year’s event will help support Ted’s family as they face the difficult days ahead.
We hope our community will come together on October 3, 2026, not only to honor Ted’s life, service, and legacy, but also to remind his family that they are not walking this journey alone.
Rest easy, Ted. Your service, sacrifice, faith, and impact will never be forgotten.
