Today at Tanner & Peyton’s wedding at Willow Creek Weddings & Events , I was reminded why I love what I do.

Great people. Great vendors. Great relationships.

The team from Fireova Pizza | DFW Catering was there serving incredible wood-fired pizza (seriously, they’re the best), and it reminded me that weddings aren’t just about timelines and playlists. They’re about people.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned since my cancer diagnosis is this: you don’t get these moments back.

Every conversation, every laugh, every handshake, every opportunity to encourage someone matters.

Life isn’t lived someday. It’s lived right now.

So build the relationship. Make the call. Have the conversation. Enjoy the moment.

Because every story matters, and every moment is a gift.

Philip and Hannah’s wedding was one of those days you don’t forget.

A hand-fasting ceremony. Viking and Scottish-inspired attire. A faith-centered celebration. Rain-soaked trees surrounding the ceremony site. Music that set the mood before a single word was spoken.

Everything about the day reflected who they are.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it: every couple has a story, and that story deserves to be told the way THEY want it told.

My job isn’t to make every wedding look the same. My job is to understand the assignment, help bring their vision to life, and create an atmosphere where their story can shine.

And Philip and Hannah’s story was pretty incredible.

I don’t usually put much stock in fortune cookies.

But every now and then, one comes along with a pretty solid reminder.

Life can be hard. Plans change. Diagnoses happen. People disappoint us. Circumstances don’t always make sense.

But faith reminds us that God is still faithful, even when life isn’t easy.

So today, I’m keeping this one.

“Faith is a gift. Keep it.”

One of my favorite things about weddings is that no two are ever the same.

The day before, I was celebrating with Christian & Kelbie. Today, I’m at with Gordon & Stephanie. Different venue. Different people. Different story.

That’s what makes this so special.

A Thousand Cedars is tucked away outside Scurry, Texas, surrounded by trees with a beautiful ceremony site that feels like it’s hidden in the woods. It was the perfect backdrop for a day centered around family, celebration, and two people starting a new chapter together.

After hundreds of weddings, I’ve learned something important: the best weddings aren’t the ones that look like everyone else’s. They’re the ones that feel like you.

My job isn’t to fit your wedding into a template. My job is to help you tell your story the way you want it told.

And that’s an honor I’ll never take for granted.

Your story matters, and I’m honored to help tell it.

When Logan & Lauren made their reception entrance, they wanted it BIG.

Thunderstruck by AC/DC.
Napkins flying in the air.
A packed dance floor.
And enough energy to set the tone for the entire night.

Then Logan hit the dance floor, dropped into the worm, and the crowd absolutely lost it.

One of my favorite things about weddings is that every couple gets to tell their story in their own way. For Logan & Lauren, that story started with a whole lot of fun, laughter, and energy.

What a way to kick off an incredible celebration.

Congratulations, Logan & Lauren. Thanks for letting Hitch & Spin be a small part of your story. ❤️

Well… the good news is they got it.

The bad news? That second layer was a lot more exciting than I had planned.

Yesterday was rough. Today is a little better.

At one point I told the nurse that if we had to go much deeper, I was going to end up looking like Lord Voldemort. Thankfully, we stopped short of that. 😂

But honestly, this little adventure is a good reminder that life isn’t always easy. Sometimes it’s surgeries. Sometimes it’s diagnoses. Sometimes it’s loss, setbacks, or things you never saw coming.

The goal isn’t to avoid hard things. The goal is to keep moving forward through them.

So I’m grateful. Grateful they caught it. Grateful it’s behind me. Grateful for all the prayers, texts, and encouragement.

And now? I’ve got three weddings this weekend, some incredible couples to celebrate, and stories to be a part of.

Bandage and all… let’s go. ❤️

Yesterday at a wedding, they had a grazing table with a block of cream cheese covered in pepper jelly.

The second I saw it, I was transported back to being a kid.

I remembered my mom convincing (or forcing 😄) my sister to try pepper jelly for the first time. It was one of those simple family moments that probably didn’t seem important at the time… but somehow stayed with me all these years.

My sister was on my mind a lot yesterday.

Before she passed, I told her I would take her with me to every wedding I do. And in a lot of ways, I have.

Sometimes it’s a song.
Sometimes it’s a conversation.
Sometimes it’s a random appetizer on a grazing table.

She always encouraged me to live fully, love people well, and make the most of the days we’re given.

So that’s what I’m trying to do.

Life is precious. Stories matter. And sometimes the smallest reminders become the biggest gifts.

Miss you, sis.

Wedding number 21 of May is happening today, and I just finished officiating Lauren & Logan’s ceremony here at Willow Creek. Now it’s time to change into my DJ clothes and get ready for an incredible reception.

It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am.

Every wedding is a new story. New people. New families. New moments I’ll never forget. And after all these years, I still love getting a front-row seat to one of the biggest days of someone’s life.

The truth is, pursuing what you’re called to do isn’t always easy. There are challenges, doubts, long days, and moments when it would be easier to quit. I’ve had those moments too.

But I’m reminded of Paul’s words:

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Today I’m thankful. Thankful for Lauren & Logan. Thankful for every couple who trusts Hitch & Spin with their story. And thankful that I still get to do something I truly love.

Your story matters, and I’m honored to help tell it.
