🔥 A FAST-MOVING WILDFIRE PROMPTS EVACUATIONS

A fast-moving wildfire in Montague County has prompted evacuations as crews work to contain the flames.

The fire is burning about 7 miles northwest of St. Jo and has been moving southwest. Residents in rural areas from Nobile Road east to Starkey Road and north of Highway 59 have been told to evacuate.

Officials are warning people in the area to stay away from heavy smoke and not attempt to drive through it.

Montague ISD is monitoring the situation and remains in contact with county officials. As of the latest update, the fire was not threatening the school.

Montague County is currently under a burn ban as dry conditions continue to create an increased wildfire risk.
