In Flower Mound City Lifestyle, Lewisville Police Department public safety dispatcher Jillian Whitis shares how the Take Me Home Program helps first responders safely assist children and adults with autism, cognitive impairments, and other disabilities.

As both a dispatcher and the mother of a son with autism, Jillian has become an advocate for expanding the program and helping more local families understand the resources available to them.

For more than a decade, Karen Davis has been quietly helping families throughout Denton County. What began with school supplies and clothing donations has grown into Ms. Karen’s Community Closet, a nonprofit providing everything from clothes and shoes to furniture, appliances, medical supplies, Christmas toys, and more to families in need.

Now celebrating its fourth anniversary as a nonprofit, the organization continues to grow through the generosity of volunteers, businesses, churches, and community partners.
