🎶🔥 DOWN 'NOLA' 30 YEARS STRONG!! 🔥🎶

Today we celebrate one of the most important underground albums to ever emerge from the Southern metal scene – Down’s debut record NOLA. Released back in 1995, this wasn’t some polished major-label production. It was raw, heavy, blues-drenched, and unapologetically real – born straight out of New Orleans, dripping with humidity, grit, and soul.

For me, NOLA was absolutely instrumental in shaping the music I love. That Southern sludge groove, the heavy bluesy backbone, and the dirt-under-the-fingernails vibe made a huge impression on me as a teenager. This was more than just music – it was a soundtrack for rebellion and identity.

Songs like “Stone the Crow” still hit with haunting melody and depth, while tracks like “Lifer” and “Bury Me in Smoke” crush with unapologetic heaviness. This wasn’t just a side project – it was a rare moment where some of the most powerful musicians in metal came together and created something timeless.

What makes NOLA stand out is how it spread underground – traded by word of mouth, cherished by those who wanted something dirtier, heavier, and more authentic than what was on the radio. Nearly three decades later, it still stands tall as a cornerstone of sludge, doom, and Southern metal.

Here’s to DOWN – and the legends behind this masterpiece: Philip Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Kirk Windstein, Jimmy Bower, and later Pat Bruders carrying the torch live. NOLA isn’t just an album, it’s a movement – one that forever changed the way I hear heavy music.

⚜️ Raise your horns, crank it up, and let those riffs roll like the Mississippi. ⚜️

🎶🔥 DOWN 'NOLA' 25 YEARS STRONG!!🔥🎶

Today we celebrate one of the most important underground records ever to come out of the Southern metal scene – DOWN’s legendary debut NOLA. Released in 1995, this wasn’t some polished major-label push. It was raw, heavy, blues-drenched, and unapologetically real – a record born from the swamps of New Orleans, where riffs dripped with humidity and every note carried the weight of struggle, rebellion, and soul.

For me personally, this album was instrumental in shaping the sound I gravitate toward to this day. That Southern sludge, the heavy bluesy groove, the dirt-under-the-fingernails riffs – NOLA was my initiation into a style of music that felt alive, dangerous, and authentic. As a teenager, I didn’t just listen to this record – I lived inside it. It made a massive impression on me at a time when I was discovering who I was, musically and personally.

Tracks like "Stone the Crow", with its haunting melody and somber reflection, showed the band’s depth, while crushers like "Lifer" and "Bury Me in Smoke" proved just how punishing yet soulful Southern metal could be. This wasn’t just another side project – it was a once-in-a-lifetime convergence of some of the heaviest, most creative minds in metal.

What makes NOLA so special is that it never set out to be commercial or polished. It was a record traded by word-of-mouth, spread underground, and worshiped by those who needed something dirtier and more real than the mainstream. It’s an album that still holds up today – a cornerstone of everything I love about sludge, doom, and blues-driven heaviness.

So here’s to – and to the titans who brought this masterpiece to life: , , , , and (carrying the torch live). NOLA remains not just an album, but a movement – one that forever changed the way I listen to heavy music.

⚜️ Raise your horns, spin it loud, and let those riffs roll like the Mississippi. ⚜️

✨ MUSIC IS ETERNAL ✨

’s words about his father, the legendary , remind us of something deeper than music—it’s about spirit. 🎶💀 When we lose someone we love, grief is the price of love. But Ozzy’s legacy doesn’t end. It continues to echo, exploding through the universe for all of us to feel.

This is what music truly is: a force that transcends death, time, and space. It connects us, heals us, and reminds us that even when the body is gone, the soul and the songs remain eternal.

🖤 Here’s to the immortality of music, memory, and the spirit of rock ’n’ roll.

And as Ozzy himself once sang… “See You on the Other Side.”
