Texas is full of places you’d never find on purpose.

Most people drive right past League City on their way to Galveston without realizing it has such a charming historic district tucked away in the middle of town.

What started as a railroad stop and shipping community has grown into a town full of history, giant oak trees, beautifully preserved homes, local shops, museums, and some really great food and coffee. One of my favorite stops was Soulfreak Railroad Café, located in the former trainmaster’s house.

You can spend an afternoon wandering the historic district, visiting the League City Historical Society’s museums, grabbing coffee, letting the kids play at League Park, and exploring a side of Texas that most people drive right past.

Sometimes the best discoveries are the places you’d never plan to visit.

Texas friends, add this one to your list. 👇

River City Ace Hardware & Triple E Mercantile in Cibolo, TX is now open and I loved getting a chance to explore the new store.

Inside you’ll find:
✔️ Grills, Blackstones & pizza ovens
✔️ Outdoor cooking accessories
✔️ A beautiful nursery
✔️ Fresh produce
✔️ Home décor & gifts
✔️ Triple E Mercantile boutique
✔️ All the hardware and home improvement essentials you’d expect

I went home with several things for the house, the boys, and even found a Father’s Day gift for Sam.

If you’re looking for a locally owned spot to support and shop, this is the one.

The Texas state gemstone comes from Mason County, a small Hill Country town known as the Gem of the Hill Country.

Blue topaz was named the official state gemstone of Texas in 1969, and Mason County is the only place in Texas where naturally occurring blue topaz has been found.

One of the town’s most famous discoveries happened in 1904, when a rancher found a 6,480-carat blue topaz crystal, the largest blue topaz ever discovered in North America.

This is the famous summer dance at Garner State Park in the Texas Hill Country.

Since the 1940s, visitors have gathered at the park’s pavilion every summer night to dance. People drop a few dollars into the jukebox, pick a song, and spend the evening two-stepping, line dancing, and making memories with family and friends.

It’s become one of my favorite Texas traditions, and my boys and I look forward to it every year.

If you’re planning a summer trip to Garner State Park, don’t miss the dance.

The secret to a Texas summer? Knowing where to be.

For us, that looks like a getaway to the Frio River. Cold, crystal-clear water, towering cypress trees, and the kind of summer day you wish you could bottle up and keep forever.

I know Texas summers get a bad rap, but days like this are exactly why I’ll never stop loving them.

📍 Onera Fredericksburg

We spent two nights at Onera Fredericksburg and loved having it as our home base for exploring the area.

Why we loved it:
• Just minutes from Main Street Fredericksburg
• Unique accommodations, including elevated treehouses
• Private hot tubs at many of the units
• Heated pool
• Peaceful Hill Country setting

Things we did nearby:
• Enchanted Rock
• Das Peach Haus
• Pioneer Museum
• Airport Diner

If you’re planning a family getaway, couples trip, or girls weekend in the Texas Hill Country, this is one to add to your list.

Save for your next Fredericksburg trip 🤍

Known as “The Gem of the Hill Country,” Mason, Texas is filled with wineries, live music, blue topaz, historic landmarks, and Llano River culture. ✨

THINGS TO DO IN MASON, TEXAS:

✦ Explore the historic courthouse square filled with boutiques, tasting rooms, restaurants, and landmarks like the Odeon Theater + Mason Square Hotel

✦ Visit Murphy Creek Cellars, Sandstone Cellars Winery, and Par Cellars — three walkable tasting rooms helping Mason quietly grow into its own Texas Hill Country wine destination

✦ Eat at Cooper’s Original Pit Bar-B-Q, opened in Mason in 1953 and known as the original location that helped launch the now-iconic Cooper’s Texas barbecue name

✦ Visit Mason Country Collectibles for western antiques, vintage finds, local blue topaz jewelry, the massive 587-carat “Grand Azure” topaz, and information on nearby public blue topaz digs

✦ Join a nearby public blue topaz dig. Mason County is one of the only places in Texas where naturally occurring blue topaz, the official Texas state gem, has been found

✦ Tour the Seaquist House, a Victorian mansion built from locally sourced sandstone in the late 1800s by one of Mason’s early banking families

✦ Visit nearby Fort Mason, established in 1851 as part of the Texas frontier fort system that helped lead to the founding of Mason

✦ Catch live music, drinks, events, and food from Twisted Fork at Spring Street Collective just off the square

✦ Head toward the Llano River for Castell General Store festivals, burgers, live music, community gatherings, and their popular Sunday “Drinking With Jesus” brunches

✦ Stop at James River Icehouse for smash burgers, cold drinks, and a laid-back river stop near one of the area’s popular river access points

One of the most unique small towns we’ve explored in the Texas Hill Country lately. 🤍

take me back to the cape ~ it’s so dreamy 😍

we tried to hit as many parts of the cape as we could so that next time we can take a chill pill in our favorite spots. We had so much fun running around.

Favorite was the outer cape beaches, especially Coast Guard beach for splashing in the waves and seeing seals!

Loved staying at our Airbnb in Harwich on a pond so we could swim every night, the location was also great for going either direction on the cape.

And adored Nantucket! Hope to see Martha’s Vineyard next time and spend a longer day on Nantucket.

See my Cape Cod highlights and more specifically I have 5 Cape Cod posts on my feed where I break down what we did each day and where we went! OR you can read that below in the comments :) highly recommend a trip here, it was so quaint!

Can’t wait to go back 🐚🦞☀️
