We had the privilege of stopping by Sister Grove Farm for their Autumn Equinox edition of the Coming Home Supper Series. 🌾✨

What started outdoors was quickly swept inside when straight-line winds came roaring through Van Alstyne. 💨 But thanks to the calm and collected hosts—and a crowd of guests who took it all in stride—the evening didn’t miss a beat.

Chef Vijay Sadhu's live-fire stage still brought all the 🔥 flavor + fall vibes. Truly a night of good food, community, and resilience. ✨👏

🍂✨ Coming Home: A Fall Supper Series at Sister Grove Farm ✨🍂

Their fall supper series begins Sunday, September 21 with the theme “Coming Home” — a celebration of how food connects us to the places we come from and the homes we create wherever we are. Guided by the incredible Chef Vijay Sadhu, each course will be prepared openly over wood and charcoal fire 🔥 — transforming farm-fresh ingredients into bold, globally inspired dishes right before your eyes. This is more than a meal; it’s an immersive journey into fire-driven gastronomy.

🌾 On the Menu:

🥗 Farmer’s Salad with smoky chili vinaigrette & paneer croutons
🥩 Smoked Brisket with ancho chile & pickles
🐖 Pork Chop with East Indian fig chutney & smoked ghee grits
🍗 BBQ Chicken with Moroccan spice rub & chipotle tamarind
🥕 Roasted Vegetables with maple glaze, feta & Syrian gremolata
🍐 Poached Pear with mascarpone whip, cardamom & rose jam
🍩 African Beignets dusted with cardamom sugar & mango

✨ Special Guest Speaker: Chef Elizabeth Varondi (Yatab Mandazi)
Chef Elizabeth will share her story of growing up in the Congo and the generations of strong women who shaped her love for food. She will prepare her signature Congolaise Samosas with sweet & spicy sauce along with her world-class African beignets.

🌅 As we gather on the autumn equinox to honor the turning of the season, the land that sustains us, and the stories that live within every meal.

edible Dallas & Fort Worth is a locally owned quarterly magazine that celebrates local food, community, and sustainability — season by season. We tell the stories of family farmers, wine makers, brewers, food artisans, chefs and other food-connected individuals dedicated to sharing access to high-quality, local seasonal foods and ingredients.

Our mission is to transform the way North Texans eat and live. In order to strengthen our local food economy and support a sustainable food system, we connect you to local growers, producers and makers with our beautiful stories, on our digital platforms, and at community events. www.edibledfw.com
