A year or two ago, my friend (and talented author,) Donald Miller introduced me to Thad Cockrell. I knew who Thad was, but having a mutual friend made me lean in more to his music.

Since then, Thad and I have become friends and I love his heart and his music.

A week after the tragic July 4th events in the TX Hill Country, Thad sent me this song. (I didn’t want to listen to a song about the tragedy. I wasn’t ready yet. But, I forced myself to.) This song wrecked me. It’s beautiful and cathartic.

I encouraged Thad to make it downloadable with the proceeds going to help the victims of the disaster. He kindly obliged (of course he did, his heart is much bigger than mine.)

So, you’ll hear this song in heavy rotation on KHYI beginning today – but please also go to the link atop khyi.com and click on Thad‘s page -where you can download the song and make a donation.
