The Dallas Symphony Orchestra League kicked off its 40th annual Presentation Ball season with a week of elegant celebrations, unveiling the 2026 debutantes—42 remarkable young women who represent the future of leadership and philanthropy in Dallas.

📣 COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT | JFS Celebrates 75 Years of Service

This May, Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas marked a major milestone with its Diamond Anniversary Gala — celebrating 75 years of compassion, care, and community impact.

Since 1950, JFS has provided whole-person care to over 26,000 people annually, regardless of race, religion, or ability to pay. The gala honored past leaders, shared inspiring stories, and looked ahead to a bold future — including a new 100,000-sq-ft building and the launch of the JFS Response Fund to support those in crisis.

It was a night to remember — and a powerful reminder of JFS’s ongoing commitment to serve.

🎖️ MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR: Allan Burns

We’re honored to spotlight longtime Preston Hollow North resident Mr. Allan Burns, who was recently awarded France’s highest distinction—the Légion d’Honneur—in recognition of his bravery and sacrifice during WWII.

At just 18 years old, Allan left his peaceful Kansas hometown and joined the U.S. Army. He served with the 104th Infantry Division, fighting on the front lines for 197 consecutive days across France, the Low Countries, and into Germany. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant, leading a 12-man squad—only six of the 36 men who served in that squad came home uninjured. Allan was one of them.

After the war, Allan built a beautiful life in Texas with his wife Betty, raised a loving family, and built a successful career. Now at 101, he continues to live with the same quiet strength, humility, and patriotism that defined his service.

Thank you, Mr. Burns, for your courage, your sacrifice, and the legacy of freedom you helped protect. 🇺🇸
