Our Story
Official page of the Romance Slam Jam convention, the annual romance and women’ fiction book lover event featuring talented authors and garnering reader engagement. The event will also feature a spotlight on readers and authors calling attention to romance and women’ fiction books with multicultural protagonists and the industry professionals who support them.
Over the years, RSJ has grown from a one-day event, to a cruise, to a three-day book lovers’ conference offering workshops, panels, book lover games, and more. From the PJ Party to the Keynote Luncheon, those who attend all 3-days of the event from Thursday - Saturday enjoy tons of fun centered around the love of Romance and Women’s Fiction. Full registrants of the RSJ book lovers’ event also receive a souvenir tote bag, T-shirt, opportunities to win gift baskets and entry into drawings to win a new Kindle.
Attendees who join us for 1-day during our Saturday events from 9am-8pm, will take part in either our fun panel games, a workshop, and/or will participate in the pitch session depending on which ticket for the day they’ve opted for. Additionally, those looking to simply get a peek into the book lover world of RSJ, may join our Saturday afternoon event for Free during our Book Signing Event from 1-3pm.
The entire RSJ Book Lover event ends with the Emma Award Finale Party that serves as a “booklover” highlight of the event while honoring authors and Emma Award winners who’ve included at least one multicultural character in their romance and/or women's fiction books to bring more multicultural books onto the shelves of readers.
Cities that have hosted Romance Slam Jam have been New York, Dallas, Chicago, Shreveport, Atlanta, Charleston, Orlando, Houston, Detroit and in 2017 Los Angeles, California. Excitingly enough, the 2010 conference celebrated fifteen years was a cruise to Jamaica. This upcoming 2018 year will be hosted in the U.S. centrally located "show me state" of Kansas City, Mo.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Readers like you and anyone and everyone looking for some book lover fun and/or authors seeking industry professionals willing to share their knowledge and guide their “authorpreneur” journey.
