Pontius Pilate facing Jesus questioned what is true.
The answer stood in front of him not a what but a who.
But a breath away from perfect truth if only he knew.
Lord may I never be so blinded that I miss you too.

One man hung on a cross finger tips from the almighty.
Salvation within his grasp but too proud to clearly see.
Instead hurling insults for a fleeting moment of glee.
Lord may I never be so proud I fail to bend the knee.

Jealous leaders plotted to extinguish God's holy light.
Foolishly loving darkness acting like tombs washed in white.
Eyes so deceived they could not see the dire of their own plight.
Lord may I never be so fooled I walk by my own sight.

One woman abounding with love anointed with weeping.
With expensive alabaster perfume kept on pouring.
Overcome with thankfulness she just kept his feet washing.
Lord may I be like her with thanks and love overflowing.

The Real God

Real faith builds an ark when there is not a drop of rain
Stands when all other kneel to a kings monument in vain
Prays to God when the lawful penalty is to be slain
When compared my faith fails and is so small and only feign

Real belief speaks the truth knowing their outcome is dire
Defies a king even when their lives are threatened with fire
Marches to a cross following the One who is higher
When compared my belief does even crawl out of the mire

Real love chooses to lay its own life down in my place
Sees all my failings and instead chooses to apply grace
Forgives all my sins and holds me tight in a warm embrace
When compared my love doesn't even qualify for the race

The real god sees my faith and joyfully says well done
He sees my belief and says we have only just begun
He sees my love and says in Him i have already won
He looks at me with all my faults and calls me His son
