HE flirts with her here and there. At first she was strong in her resistance, standing her ground. But he kept affirming her and complementing her. Little by little she began letting her guard down feeling more and more comfortable with each affirmation she gives her. She loved her husband, but "HE" was speaking louder to her than her husband was, and "HE" seemed to sound so much more appealing. As she engaged him more and more, she began to morph into what HE "liked". Eventually, as she adorned herself with clothes that her husband bought her, she could only think of the other "HIM" and would often display them for "HIM". She sang to him the songs that were originally intended for her husband. She began growing further away from her husband and closer to "him". One day she found herself taking the gifts that her husband gave her and giving them to "Him". She had an encounter with him. She couldn't stop blushing as they sat and talked. He leaned over and whispered into her ear, "hesnotenoghgforyou". At least this is how it sounded. She looked at him and replied, "I didn't understand what you said.", He leaned over again and spoke clearly, "He's not enough for you". She pulled away and looked at him and thought about her husband. The Wife - The church (in some cases) - Defending a husband that she won't be loyal to.
The Husband - Christ - lavishing gifts on his bride born from Sacrifice.
The Lover - The demon of Consumerism - who lures the church into not quite leaving her husband but using his gift to impress carnal consumers.
WE have to do better.
