Everyone...tune in tonight at 10 PM on CBS 11 for another follow up news story on this!
Also, please join us on Oct. 17th at 6:30PM for the City Council Meeting.
You can sign our petition, too https://chng.it/6CFX46V58t
The purpose of attending city council and signing the petition is to get the police department to take animal cruelty more seriously and to make sure fraudulent businesses like Leiva boarding aren't allowed to operate. We need city ordinances that require boarding facilities to be licensed and require proof of vaccinations.
In this particular case, Tidus' owner went to the police to press charges when his dog was killed and was told by police that he needed to take it up by suing in civil court. It wasn't until he went back and told them he wanted to file charges for fraud, that the police decided to investigate the case.
Taylor Leiva is still running her boarding and training facility. She never gave Chis (Tidus' Owner) a refund, even though she stated she would. Taylor Leiva is the owner of Leiva Boarding and Training, yet no charges have been filed against her-only her father. As a business owner, you are responsible for what happens, too. Her father is currently out on bail.
The day before Tidus death, police were called to do a wellness check, after neighbors found 3 emaciated dogs that escaped and were in bad shape. They knocked on the door and there wasn't an answer, so nothing was done...no follow up. Nothing.
Tidus death was preventable. Taylor and her father have been reported to animal control multiple times and have received multiple citations.
The message that the city is currently sending is that if something happens to your pet, handle it yourself and if you want to defraud the public, we will let you continue business as usual. Taylor has a gofundme page claiming she teamed up with Truvet to start a rescue...which are lies.
Taxpayers are footing the bill. The Colony animal shelter has been overrun with animals Taylor dumped or animals that Taylor and her father had escape. Customer dog's are boarded together with diseased strays, where they've already had an outbreak of parasites, parvo, diseases, etc.
The animal shelter has presented these facts, yet they are still allowed to operate as business as usual. Help us change that and attend please.
868 signatures are needed, let’s get there by the end of the day?
