They say “start when you’re ready”… but the truth is, you will never feel completely ready.
For the longest time, I wanted to start a poultry farm but held back. I focused on everything that could go wrong, the risks, the losses, the uncertainty. But in January this year, with strong encouragement from my wife, we decided to take a leap of faith. We started small… just 100 birds. No perfect plan, no perfect timing — just the willingness to begin. 98 made it to the market, now that’s a strong start.
Today, that small step has grown into something incredible. We now have about 700 birds, and we’re scaling rapidly, with our sights set on reaching thousands in the coming months.
Along the way, we’ve made mistakes, learned hard lessons, and gained valuable experience that no amount of planning could have taught us.
This journey gave birth to Sardon Farms (Sarah + Donald) a vision that is quickly becoming a major commercial poultry farm, right in the heart of Kaduna State.
This is more than just a farm. It’s proof that growth starts with action.
To anyone out there waiting for the “perfect time” to start a business, a project, or a dream, this is your sign. Start where you are. Start with what you have. Learn as you go. Adjust when you must. But most importantly… START. Trust me when I say no body actually knows what they are doing when they start, we all learn on the job.
Because sometimes, the difference between where you are and where you want to be is simply the courage to take that first step.
