To engineer demand, you need to:

1. Target new customers early in the funnel, before competitors are even in front of them. Build brand awareness, recognition, and recall. Create touch points across multiple channels.

2. Create urgency and anticipation so when a customer does need your product or service, they already have you in mind.

3. Nurture leads until they're ready to convert, rather than just sucking them straight into a sales call or landing page offer immediately.

This isn't to say capturing demand isn't important—it's crucial down the bottom of the funnel. But it can't be your entire strategy. You need both capture and engineer tactics working together throughout the entire journey if you want sustained growth.
