Living with a rare blood cancer called polycythemia vera (PV) means my blood’s thicker than it should be, and the symptoms don’t always show on the outside. Headaches. Fatigue. Brain fog. Dizziness. All of that.

My PV is part of a group of rare blood cancers called myeloproliferative neoplasms, otherwise known as MPNs.

I partnered with Incyte to attend their MPN Creator Lab, where I learned about better ways to manage this condition alongside other MPN patients, caregivers and advocates. I realized there’s still so much I don’t know! Do I have the mutation? What’s going on with my spleen or liver? Are my other conditions really connected? How often should I be seeing my doctors?

✨ My biggest takeaways:
• I need to be more proactive instead of reactive with my doctors + care team.
• I’m about to become the most organized patient (tracking symptoms, centralizing records, the whole thing).
• The MPN VisualAIzer tool blew me away. The image it made from my description of brain fog was scary accurate, but also validating.
