A call was received at 4:40 p.m. on 8/19/22 reporting a broken sewer pipe running into storm drain. Water Department staff arrived on site at 5:20 p.m.. The aerial sewer pipe crossing the storm drain had failed and dropped. The sewer pipe was jacked up to the proper elevation, jetted and the overflow was stopped. Approximately 8277 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled onto the ground and into Pickett's Mill Creek. Work is ongoing to make a permanent repair, and a bypass pump is on site. The site was limed and signs have been placed at the creek.

Here is your chance to submit your input on the Richland Creek Reservoir Park!
On August 24, 2022, Paulding County held a public meeting at Burnt Hickory Park to discuss the potential recreation program for the park land surrounding the Richland Creek Reservoir. The area totals almost 1,400 acres with over 400 acres of parkland. Consultants Pond and Company prepared a presentation and survey where various possible park program elements were discussed, and voted on by participants as potential park elements.

Please review the presentation PDF linked below as you take the survey for imagery related to the programming.

Survey Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9MGTYRJ

The survey will be open until Friday, 9/16/2022. The results of the survey will help the design team in determining final suggested programs for this site and will be utilized as part of the Master Plan design process. The resulting plan will be presented for review at Burnt Hickory Park on a date to be determined in October.

Paulding County’s Richland Creek Reservoir Passive Park Master Plan
Recreation Use, Programming and Planning Meeting
August 24, 2022 6pm - Burnt Hickory Park Community Center

Please join Paulding County Parks and Recreation and their consultant, Pond and Company, as we discuss the potential for utilizing the 1,015 acres surrounding the County’s new Richland Creek Reservoir. There is the opportunity for long term passive recreation use on the land that will serve as a natural buffer to this new source of drinking water, and this Master Plan process will help guide the County for future improvements, such as trailhead parking areas, restrooms, equestrian use, hiking and walking trails, environmental education/interpretation, camping, or other similar activities.
Pond will present an overview of the property, review the allowed recreation uses around the reservoir and surrounding land and discuss the many potential ways citizens can access and enjoy the recreational opportunities possible. The public will be able to use smartphone based real-time surveys to provide input during the presentation.
Once a program for the site is complete based on the input from the public at this meeting, Pond will develop the Master Plan for the site to show how the site can be established as a passive park and present the proposed plan at a future meeting.

08/17/2022

Join us August 30, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm to share your thoughts concerning US 278. The Paulding County Board of Commissioners along with the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), and the Cities of Hiram and Dallas have initiated a study along the US 278 Corridor from the Cobb County Line to SR 120 (Buchanan Street) to investigate, develop, validate, recommend, and ultimately prioritize improvements along the corridor.
This study, with the help of your feedback, considers roadway expansion, intersection improvements, land use access controls, alternative routes, safety and operations, emerging technology, freight, incorporation of “Complete Streets” policies and guidelines, and considerations of multiple modes of travel which include bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit users.
This planning process began in January of 2022 and will conclude this fall. It included community input on transportation needs in Spring of 2022 and will have additional community input on recommendations in August and September. Community input is essential to accurately reflect the desires of those who live, work and spend time in Paulding County and its cities.
In the spirit of seeking Community input, Paulding County along with its consultants on the project from Pond & Company are hosting Public Engagement Activities. Currently, two opportunities are scheduled for the Public to engage with the planning team and provide input:

• In-Person Community Meeting: August 30, 2022 from 5-7 PM at The Events Place, 855 Hiram-Douglasville Hwy, Hiram, GA 30141
• Online Materials Interactive Map (available September 1, 2022 through September 15,, 2022): planningatpond.com/us278/map

To learn more about the plan please visit planningatpond.com/us278.

For detailed questions about the US 278 Scoping Study, contact Erica Parish, Paulding County DOT Deputy Director, at 770-445-4759 or [email protected].

Georgia Department of Transportation
Requests Feedback & Comments
For P.I. No. 0013760
Paulding County

The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) is placing project information for review and feedback into an internet platform to allow citizens to review and comment on the proposed project. We appreciate your participation in this process.
Georgia DOT has posted information at:
https://sr-6-bu-at-legion-rd-0013760-gdot.hub.arcgis.com/
related to the proposed State Route (SR) 6 Business (BU) / SR 61 at City Street (CS) 61 / Legion Road intersection improvements.
This project proposes to install a hybrid roundabout with two right-turn bypasses and an exclusive left at the intersection of SR 6 BU / SR 61 and Legion Rd. The adjacent intersection at SR 6 and East Memorial Drive is proposed to be realigned and converted to a right-in right-out. The existing left-turn movements at East Memorial Drive are anticipated to be redirected through the proposed roundabout at Legion Road. The total project length would be approximately 0.34 mile.
The purpose of this internet posting is to replace an in-person meeting, while allowing the public to review the proposed project, provide feedback, or write in with questions.

Mr CarMicheal and to all county inspectors(Steve Turner) I as a homeowner in Paulding County need some answers. I went down to the courthouse today to pull a permit for an addition on my home( in the backyard) and went thru the legal process to pull a building permit. Planning and Zoning check, property tax division check and then to Environmental Dept. I was unable to pull a permit because I have not had my SEPTIC TANK pumped out in the last 5 years. My septic tank is fine and in FRONT YARD) I am adding on the back of my home. So everyone needs to know this on septic tank. I have to pay 3 to 4 hundred dollars to have my septic tank cleaned out and then the environmental dept has to come and view my property to make sure I am not building on my septic tank and another 100 dollars in order to obtain a building permit. We need as citizens to go to our commisioners and building officials and stop this ridiculous costs for absolutely no reason.
