Our Weddings Magazine Our Weddings Magazine is the first ever bridal lifestyle magazine that focuses on Black couples and Our Weddings Magazine was started by Ivy N.

McQuain, owner of iPOP Media House (formerly The BLI Group) in 2014 when it collaborated with Southern Dallas County Business & Living Magazine owned by James Thomas. This partnership was a way to be a voice for Black brides and grooms. When the mini issue was published in the June 2014 issue of Southern Dallas County Magazine, Ivy realized that there was a void in the bridal industry that needed

to be filmed. By April 2015 Our Weddings Magazine was ready to launch a full preview issue. By June 2015 the premier issue of Our Weddings Magazine was available digitally and the rest is history. Now readers can enjoy seeing real black love from real couples, real wedding industry experts and real writers sharing their stories on dating, getting married AND staying married. So take this journey with us as we tell more people that BLACK LOVE does exist and it is real.

some people think that our wedding was expensive, but honestly we think we did a pretty good job keeping this part of our day under £25K. Because let me tell youu, we were on track to spend so much more!!

Also, it was important to us that we didn’t overspend on the wedding as we had lots of plans and a certain lifestyle we want to live after the wedding. A year later, and no regrets!🙏

Understand the difference.

After you’ve been happily married for a long while, one day you wake up realizing that there is a whole world full of people who will never understand you and how valuable this gift of love that you experience daily truly is.

Moments later you make peace with that and joyfully go on about your life.

Truth be told…experiencing this type of joy, satisfaction, harmony, and fulfillment in your marriage can sometimes be extremely isolating.

Your single friends and associates don’t get it (even the ones that think they do).

And your married friends either deeply get it, kinda sorta get it, don’t get it at all, or look at what you have with envy.

It can be tough out here some times ya know

All I can say is that he had 23yrs to run and he kept coming back so there is nothing about this quirkiness that he likes! 😆😆

If your relationship is not fun, if you don’t smile more than you grown, if you have to keep the majority of your thoughts to yourself you may be in the wrong relationship. We talk about everything, I make him laugh he makes me laugh ( mainly because he isn’t funny but he thinks that he is). But we at besties. 💞

I was told before it would be challenging to be in a relationship with a quiet person. I wouldn’t know what that’s like because my husband isn’t reserved when it comes to me. It’s a level of comfort that you should have with your mate that allows you to be your authentic self.

The other night at our slumber party ( sleeping in our family room). I rolled over in the middle of the night and kicked me in my face ( unintentionally of course ) I think lol . I remember being sleep, but I was moaning about it.😆. When he woke up in the morning and I told him about it, he didn’t believe me, and then we both busted out laughing. It was hilarious! Of course being kicked in the face is not funny but it was hilarious how it happened and you have to be able to laugh at the small stuff. Can you imagine what that was like!?🤦🏾‍♀️😂😂 Anyways, love is amazing!
