Alright… someone explain this to me.
Pulled in for a simple tire patch — nothing crazy.
Patch + disposal = $30.00
Tax = $2.10
Total = $32.10… for ONE tire.
I’m used to patches being like $10–20 max… so when did $30+ become normal?
I get shops have overhead, time, equipment, all that — but this still caught me off guard.
Be honest… did I get taxed or is this just the going rate now?

I decided to try the dealership for an oil change for the first time because everyone always says “dealer service is better” and somehow I ended up with a $368.82 quote for pouring 5 quarts of oil into a 2018 Highlander. Am I missing something here or did crude oil personally get delivered from the Middle East in an armored convoy because of the war in Iran?

I genuinely thought oil changes were like $60–100 max but apparently dealerships now think every vehicle requires a Formula 1 pit crew, a spiritual consultation, and a ceremonial gasket replacement blessed by Toyota engineers. The labor alone is over $250 to unscrew one bolt and replace a filter. At this point I’m expecting the technician to hand polish every molecule of 0W20 before it enters the engine.

And before anyone says “just do it yourself” that’s not the point. I’m trying to understand how we went from “basic maintenance” to “small personal loan approval.” For $368 this thing better leave with an engine rebuild, alignment, tire rotation, and complimentary shoulder massage in the waiting room.

Reminder: wait staff are humans too.

If there’s an issue, say something while you’re here so we can fix it. Leaving a rude note on the tip line after your server spent the last two hours taking care of you is just disrespectful and weak.

We’d like thank everyone for your business today.
Well… most of you 😉

Okay am I wrong for being irritated by this??
I’m at Walmart and there’s a guy completely slumped over asleep in his car parked close to the front of the store while everybody else is desperately hunting for parking spots.

I watched multiple cars circle the lot because it’s packed, yet this dude is just laid back knocked out in his seat like he rented the parking spot for the night.

I eventually told a couple workers because honestly it doesn’t seem right. Parking lots are for customers shopping at the store, not for people to park for hours and sleep while everyone else struggles to find a spot.

And honestly, it’s kind of concerning too. If someone is THAT passed out in a car in public, shouldn’t management at least check on the situation?

The whole thing just feels completely unacceptable and weird to me.

We went out to dinner as a group tonight and the bill ended up being just over $500.

We left a $40 tip because we genuinely thought we were still leaving something decent on top of an already expensive dinner. Maybe not huge, but not insulting either.

Apparently our server disagreed.

As we were getting ready to leave, she made a comment about how she was expecting “closer to $120,” and the entire table just kind of froze.

At first we thought she was serious — because honestly, it didn’t sound like a joke at all. It got awkward fast. When we asked to speak to a manager about the comment, suddenly she backtracked and claimed she was “just kidding.”

But if it was a joke… why did it feel so uncomfortable?

Now I’m sitting here genuinely wondering if we somehow committed a massive dining offense without realizing it.

Is $40 on a $500 bill really THAT bad? Because expecting $120 feels absolutely wild to me....,,,

Since when did leaving a **20% tip** turn into getting told to “learn to tip”? 😭

The bill was **$33.06**.

The tip was **$6.61**.

That is not nothing.

That is not some insulting pocket-change tip.

That is literally right around **20%**.

And somehow the server still wrote, “Learn to TIP. It’s not my job to serve you FOR FREE!!”

And honestly, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes people exhausted with tipping culture.

Because if someone leaves a terrible tip, okay, people are going to have opinions.

If someone leaves nothing after good service, yeah, I understand why that would be frustrating.

But when a customer leaves a normal, reasonable tip and still gets shamed like they did something wrong… what are we even doing anymore?

At that point, it stops feeling like appreciation.

It starts feeling like a moving target.

First, 15% was normal.

Then 18% became the standard.

Then 20% became the expectation.

Now apparently even 20% can come with attitude if someone decides it still wasn’t enough. 💀

And yes, servers work hard.

Nobody is saying they don’t.

But customers are already paying the bill, the tax, and then adding extra on top because that’s how the system is set up.

So if **20%** is no longer considered a solid tip, then people need to just say that clearly.

Because right now it feels like customers are basically guessing what amount won’t get them judged, called out, or written up on a receipt.

Be honest…

Is 20% still a good tip, or has the expectation quietly moved higher?

Would you complain about **$6.61 on a $33 bill**?

And at what point does tipping stop feeling like gratitude and start feeling like pressure?
