Spanish is the most spoken language in the Western Hemisphere, making it the most spoken language among Afro-descendants in the Americas. "El Reino: África" and "El Reino: Norteamérica y Sudamérica" are an extension of that history, tracing the linguistic and cultural continuities that connect Africa to the Americas through Spanish.

Some book reviews don't just recommend a read, they invite reflection. 📖

We're still thinking about .reads (on Instagram) review of "American Presidential Parties: Their Relevance to People of African Descent." As Jakori so powerfully points out, this book asks readers to revisit history, examine the present, and consider what kind of future they're helping shape.

Which American political party do you belong to, and why? The familiar themes woven throughout each chapter are a reminder that, as the saying goes, there is nothing new under the sun. The patterns of history echo into today, challenging us to ask difficult questions about what it means to be Black in America and how government policies can both empower and pacify.

This isn't just a history lesson. It's an invitation to think critically, engage deeply, and decide where you stand.

📚 What does history reveal when you look beyond the headlines?

Favored Reader reviewed American Presidential Parties: Their Relevance to People of African Descent and described it as:

The book is a bite-sized view of literally the presidents of the United States of America. It stops at the 45th president and explores their relationships with people of African descent; what policies they passed, what they personally did, how they spoke up (or didn't), the hypocrisy, contradictions, what they promised versus what they actually followed through with, and the laws that shaped history.

This thought-provoking read invites readers to examine the legacy of U.S. presidents through a lens that is often overlooked. Thank you, Favored Reader, for your insightful review!

They whipped us for reading.
That’s not hyperbole. Throughout slavery, Black people were punished for pursuing literacy because those in power understood something that still holds true today:

Literacy is power.

Our ancestors risked violence, separation from family, and even death to learn what many were told they had no right to know. So when we look at the reading crisis affecting so many Black children today, we shouldn’t see it as normal. We shouldn’t see it as inevitable. We should ask ourselves how a people who fought so hard for literacy are still watching too many children be left behind.

Our ancestors knew that reading wasn’t just about books. It was about freedom.

Not everyone moves through the world carrying the same awareness of how they’re seen or understood, and that difference often shapes what people notice, question, or overlook.

Author C.Nichole says that that’s part of why “American Presidential Parties: Their Relevance to People of African Descent” exists, not as something to argue over for sport, but as something to engage with seriously.

History, especially Black American history, is not entertainment or debate material. It’s lived experience, study, and truth that deserves attention, not dismissal. This book is an invitation to understand more deeply what helped shape this country, and who carried the weight of that process. It’s here if you’re willing to read and reflect.
