Most people don’t realize The Cedars still doesn’t have a public playground for kids.
Not “needs upgrades.”
Not “needs repairs.”
None.

So Naïma Hill (Avy’s mother), a Dallas mother, decided to do something about it after losing her 22-month-old daughter, Aveline “Avy” Lucille Hill, in a car crash.

What started as unimaginable loss turned into Avy’s Sunshine Tribe, a growing nonprofit creating community events, public connection, and now actively working to build the neighborhood’s first playground.

Avy’s Sunshine Kite Festival is part of that movement. Colorful painted kites, ice cream, a DJ, face painting, and lots more. Families everywhere.
One of the most visually beautiful community events in Dallas.
And it’s free.
