This campaign has been an eye opening experience for me. I have learned more throughout this process than I ever expected.

I have learned far more people are hurting than I realized. More families are sick than I knew. Our water is more dangerous than many of us were ever told. I have learned that our economy is far weaker than people admit because we became too dependent on one industry, the carpet mills, the same industry connected to chemicals now found in our water.

What hurt the most was learning that some people many of us trusted knew about these issues for years and kept it from the public. For nearly two decades the people were not given the full truth.

When these concerns were raised, we were told speaking honestly would destroy the mills, while little was said about the insurance protections in place, the families dealing with illness, or the lives already impacted.

We cannot keep pivoting away from our health. We cannot keep asking citizens to accept uncertainty while they watch loved ones suffer and property values decline.

This is bigger than politics now. This is about trust, accountability, clean water, public health, and whether the people of this community finally come first.
