🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the men and women who have worn the uniform and served this nation with courage, integrity, and sacrifice.

At The Recovery Couch, we recognize that the battle doesn’t always end when the uniform comes off. Many veterans continue to fight unseen wars—against trauma, addiction, and the weight of transition. But through faith, community, and vulnerability, healing is possible.

As a veteran myself, I want to say thank you to every brother and sister who stood the line and continues to stand strong in recovery and in life. Your courage inspires hope. Your story matters.

🎖️ Today, and every day, we honor you.

Every move tells a story — and this one’s about growth and God’s grace. 🙏
True Story Media has officially moved into a new HQ, and while content’s been quiet lately, I’ve been focused on what’s next. Early conversations are already happening about bringing Step 4: A Journey Through Addiction to the screen — one step, one prayer, one open door at a time.

All glory to God for continuing to write this story. The best chapters are still ahead. 📖✨

In this episode of The Recovery Couch, host Brandon Couch continues the Learning Together series with a deep dive into the most complex organ in the human body — the brain. Building on previous discussions about the stages of addiction and the neurobiology behind it, Brandon explores how different parts of the brain are affected by drug and alcohol use and what that means for behavior, emotions, and recovery. From the medulla oblongata to the cerebrum, this episode breaks down the brain’s anatomy in simple, relatable terms — explaining how substances like alcohol, m**hamphetamine, and psychedelics alter mood, coordination, perception, and decision-making. Brandon also discusses why understanding the brain’s structure is key to compassion: realizing that addiction rewires behavior can help us love and forgive those caught in its grip. This episode reminds us that recovery isn’t just about willpower — it’s about healing what’s been hijacked. Key Takeaways: The brain contains billions of neurons that shape all human behavior. Alcohol, m**h, and other drugs alter how the brain’s systems function. Specific brain regions (like the cerebellum and hypothalamus) explain common addiction-related behaviors. Understanding brain science helps us approach addiction with empathy. True recovery means restoring balance to both the brain and the spirit.
