Another add to the scarp heap of my “Brilliant Ideas?”
Did anyone wonder about those tubes on the front and rear bumpers on my Vanquish vs410 pro?
Let me try to explain my madness?
I've tried a couple rc winch anchors but they don't seem to work good enough for me.
Now I wasn't at the hardware store looking for an anchor solution, but during that visit I saw these thingies. And thought, and wondered, might these work as land anchors?
The thingies,I later found out, are Eye Lag Screws used for hanging drop ceiling grids.
So, I'm giving the drop ceiling anchor screws a try. I've tried them on my basement “rock pile” and they show promise.
OK, then how to carry them on the truck? Again the hardware store to the rescue. One half in. PVC pipe fit the bill. To keep the lag screws from falling out, I initially used some trimmed knelling pad foam. Not ideal! And then I found more thingies. The local hardware store had these flexible plastic desk grommets for passing cables through a desk top. I believe they might work.
I've found that paint, at least the types I've tried, don't adhere well to PVC. So, I used shrink tubing to cover the PVC.
I'm wondering if any one else has tried any of this? I've learned one thing in the age of the internet, there are few original ideas. If I thought of this then some one else, somewhere, has also thought of it. Let me know if you have and your experiences with eye lag screws as RC land anchors.
