I wanted to cut some vinyl for the Jeeps roof and doors. I realized that regular vinyl probably wouldn't contour to the deep molding. I thought what I needed was wrapable vinyl. I found some on Amazon that I could get in small amounts. It was my first attempt at using this stuff, but we have Youtube to train us! Worked pretty well.

While I was searching Pro Lines web site for a new body (Mixing paint brands caused paint failure on the grey Jeep Gladiator), I saw that the Power Wagon is a top seller. Looking at these photos of Al's PW you can see why.

Here are the Ottsix KLR X4s. Gonna go with these. The Pitbull Growlers worked great every where but the up hill section with sandy lose pea gravel. These KLRs worked every where including the lose stuff. Next up will be the Jeep Gladiator body. This should also improve the handling as it much lighter than the "Scout". Just have to cut some vinyl and sticker it up.

Progress
Looks like it's all about the tires. I've tried three sets, Pit Bull Rock Beasts, Pro-Line Hyrax, and Pit Bull Growlers. Each one advanced the trucks handling. Now I'm hoping I'm taking the next step forward. I've ordered a set of Ottsix KLRs' along with their inserts. I have them on the SCX10-2 and they worked extremely well on the same course I've been testing the VS-410P. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Went out on another test run early this morning.By chance, a friend of mine was out there as well. We did crawl together but kept the recommended separation..... well maybe we were a little extreme in our spacing?!

Brought out the old dog to compare it to the Vanquish. Let's just say that the VS4-10P still needs some work.

Today's test with Proline Hydrax tires and Proline weighted wheels. Takes the hills like a champ. No torque twist. These tires are a bit bigger than the Pit Bulls from the first test so clearance was a little better. I used heavier oil in the rear shocks.Had to replace one of the rear axle shafts as I snapped it last night at home. My error not Vanquishs' Servo winch worked well till the the cable came loose at the hook.It slipped from the crimped metal collar.

Broke down and took the VS4-10P out on the trails. Went to Fonferek Glen early yesterday morning, before the corona crowds showed up. I used the camera body with the Go Pro mounted. Considering the extra weight, worked quite well. Needs some tweaking. I have a feeling it's going to be a topnotch performer once I get the other body on it.

Another add to the scarp heap of my “Brilliant Ideas?”

Did anyone wonder about those tubes on the front and rear bumpers on my Vanquish vs410 pro?
Let me try to explain my madness?
I've tried a couple rc winch anchors but they don't seem to work good enough for me.

Now I wasn't at the hardware store looking for an anchor solution, but during that visit I saw these thingies. And thought, and wondered, might these work as land anchors?
The thingies,I later found out, are Eye Lag Screws used for hanging drop ceiling grids.
So, I'm giving the drop ceiling anchor screws a try. I've tried them on my basement “rock pile” and they show promise.
OK, then how to carry them on the truck? Again the hardware store to the rescue. One half in. PVC pipe fit the bill. To keep the lag screws from falling out, I initially used some trimmed knelling pad foam. Not ideal! And then I found more thingies. The local hardware store had these flexible plastic desk grommets for passing cables through a desk top. I believe they might work.
I've found that paint, at least the types I've tried, don't adhere well to PVC. So, I used shrink tubing to cover the PVC.

I'm wondering if any one else has tried any of this? I've learned one thing in the age of the internet, there are few original ideas. If I thought of this then some one else, somewhere, has also thought of it. Let me know if you have and your experiences with eye lag screws as RC land anchors.

Received this Vanquish 410-SP as a Christmas gift and have been slowly building and testing it since then. I'm going to have to get it out in the dirt soon, but you know how that goes. That first glob of mud, that first scratch, that first dunk in the water, well it's hard to get past that.

I wanted to try this chassis because of the motor location. The weight, ya gotta love it low and forward! There were also a bunch of things I've seen other folks doing that I've been meaning to try. So hell, why not throw um all at a new truck! Will that be a mistake? Maybe!

Here is a list of what I've thrown into the 410:
1. Servo winch – Reefs
2. Tekin Steering Servo - T-440
3. DIG - VP
4. FT overdrive – VP 21%
5. Rear Winch – RC4WD, Wireless (cause I'd already used all five channels) (Has it's own battery)
6. Remote drag control.
7. Holmes Hobbies - Puller Pro V2 2700 kv
8. Tekin – RX4 ESC

I had the Pitbull TEMCO NDT tires when I first photographed this Power Wagon but decided to install the 1.55 rock beasts. The NDT’s looked so small and how would they work? I still don’t know how they work in scale, but I’ve been watching a lot of Youtube videos of vintage Jeeps using the NDT’S. They work amazingly well.
What do you think of the looks of the NDT's?

Pro-Line Dodge Power Wagon with their utility bed. On a Cross chassis. This is my most recent attempt at rusting/weathering. I learn something every time I try, but I've got a way to go. Truthfully, I build these more as props for my photos, but they must also crawl and this one worked better than expected.
I'll be tweaking the body and adding a few more details, maybe an interior and driver, but this is the general look.

Shot this video with an iPhone 11 Pro. Harder to shoot the low angles, harder to hold than a dedicated camera, but video looks great. Going to get a Movi iPhone gimbal to make it easier to use. Edited on a IPad Pro using Luma Fusion.

Took this a few months ago but I still absolutely love it and it’s definitely one of my best scale photos!
