This whole journey started because my baby took a bite out of a lilac flower at Greenville Village while we were out with my mom 😂 We panicked, looked it up, and discovered lilac flowers are totally edible — so then we all tried one!

🌸 I've been drying mine right off the tree — here's a peek at the drying rack and the finished jar.

Dried lilac blossoms (Syringa vulgaris) can be used to make:

🫖 A gentle calming tea rich in antioxidants
🍯 A honey infusion — just blossoms + raw honey, infused for a few weeks.
🌿 An oxymel — a traditional herbal preparation made with honey and apple cider vinegar, great for digestion and respiratory support.

The blooms only last a few weeks in spring, so drying them is the best way to stretch that harvest all year. Have you ever used lilac flowers in the kitchen or your home apothecary? I'd love to hear! 💜

This was one of the first "big" books my mom ever handed me. She thought I was finally ready for it, and she was right.

I just sat down and read it again for the first time since losing her — and it just hit way different this time.

Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt is about four siblings abandoned by their mother who walk hundreds of miles just trying to find somewhere they belong. It's a children's novel, technically. But trust me, it's for everyone. If your mom ever put a book in your hands that changed you, you'll understand why this one hit so hard.

I'm already looking forward to the day my own kids are ready for it. Highly recommend. 📚

No mortar & pestle? No problem!

Use a shot glass or the handle of a kitchen tool. I'm using it to crush eggshells — works just as well! The crunch is sooo satisfying too.
