3. My favorite part about diamond cutting.

Diamond cutting is a complex process that involves several stages to achieve the desired results. My favorite part of this process is the final stage: brillianteering. During brillianteering, the last 24 small facets on the top and the last 16 facets on the bottom (for round brilliant cut) of the stone are meticulously cut and polished to perfection. To me, this stage feels like adding the finishing touches, akin to decoration time! It's at this point that the diamond truly begins to sparkle its brightest. Achieving success in brillianteering demands extreme precision and accuracy, along with a great deal of patience and attention to detail for each microscopic facet. Witnessing the final transformation from rough stone to the finished product, shining with brilliance and glitter, brings immense joy and satisfaction. 💎

Natural color diamond 💎

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of cutting and polishing many different colored diamonds, including yellows, greens, blues, oranges, browns, pinks, and olives. The most interesting color to work with for me was olive-colored diamonds because they change their color during cutting due to the heating process. When the stone is hot from the friction on the wheel, it becomes a beautiful bright yellow, and after cooling, it returns to its original dark olive color. Such stones are often referred to as “Chameleons.” One of the olive diamonds I cut was featured in the RAPAPORT magazine.
